A huge thank you to the team at Martock Fire Station for having our Cubs for a visit! 🚒🔥

The crew gave us such an informative, hands-on, and exciting look behind the scenes. The Cubs had a fantastic time and learned so much about fire safety and keeping our community safe.

We really appreciate you giving up your time for us! 👏✨

Our Beavers welcomed Tracey from A E Stoodley & Son to learn about a role that many of them had never considered before.

As part of their World Challenge badge, the Beavers are exploring the people who help our community. Tracey shared what it's like to be a funeral director, brought along the traditional top hat she wears for funeral processions, and explained that funerals don't always have to be sad occasions. They can also be a celebration of a person's life, personality and passions.

The Beavers impressed us all with their curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and proving that no topic is off limits when young people feel comfortable enough to learn.

One discussion even led to the possibility of a 🦖 dinosaur-themed funeral, showing just how quickly the Beavers embraced the idea of celebrating individuality!

We're also incredibly grateful to Stoodley & Son for their generous donation towards our Scout Hall improvement project.

Thank you for a fascinating evening and your support of local Scouting.

Mental health matters just as much as physical health. Through community, connection, and time spent outdoors, Scouting creates a genuine place to belong - for our young people and adult volunteers alike.

Being part of a local group supports mental well-being for everyone involved:
⚜ Connection: Building meaningful friendships and a strong local network.
💪 Purpose: Gaining confidence and boost well-being through shared community action.
🌿 Space: Unplugging from daily stress and spending time in nature.

World Mental Health Day is a gentle reminder that none of us has to navigate life alone. Check in on a friend, check in on a neighbour, or reach out if you need support yourself:
Shout: Text SHOUT to 85258
Samaritans: Call 116 123

Let’s keep looking out for one another. ⚜️💗

🍏 From just 80 bottles back in 2020 to a whopping 362 bottles this year - our young people have well and truly smashed their record!

They’ve been hard at work milling local apples into mash and pressing every single drop into 100% pure, delicious apple juice.

Best of all, every bottle sold brings us one step closer to installing an accessible toilet in the Scout Hut, ensuring our building is fully inclusive for all our young people and the wider community.

£3 per bottle with local delivery available!

Drop us a message here on Facebook to order yours before it runs out! 🍏✨

It’s amazing how the practical skills you pick up when you're young stay with you for life.

We’ve all had those moments as adults: trying to build a garden trellis, or rig up a temporary workspace, wishing we actually knew how to fix beams together properly when the screwdriver is lost!

In Scouting, we call it pioneering - constructing things using practical knot skills.

Our Beavers are starting early so they'll never have that problem! Last term, they mastered tying strong knots using strawberry laces. This term, they’re taking on structural engineering using spaghetti and marshmallows.

Who knows where these skills will lead? From being the person who can fix the washing line, construct a solid timber frame, to building full-scale catapults like the Scouts... the sky's the limit! 🚀

🍂 Crisp air and golden light - the autumn equinox is officially here, and we're nowhere near ready to head indoors!

The seasons might be shifting, but the adventure is far from slowing down:

🔥 Cubs made the most of the woods with a campfire.
🎯 Scouts took over Ham Hill for an evening of laser tag!

Darker evenings just mean brighter campfires and bigger adventures. 🍁🌲

17/09/2026

And just like that, we’re back in the swing of autumn term!

What a start it’s been across all our groups:
🛶 Scouts put their creativity to the test with Lego challenges and hit the water for canoeing
🤼 Cubs brought the energy (and serious determination!) with an intense tug-of-war.
👭 Beavers jumped straight into fun team games and got everyone laughing.

Not forgetting the brilliant turn out to dish up loaded fries at the Carnival to you all. Never too early to practice customer service skills....or the required "quality control" as they called it! 😋

It’s been so wonderful seeing familiar faces again and welcoming lovely new ones to our group. Here’s to a term full of adventure! ⚜️
