It certainly was! 🏕️✨
We are so proud of the South Petherton Beavers and Cubs for throwing themselves into every challenge at camp despite the rain. They showed great teamwork, tried new things, and made us all proud.

Looks like a lot of fun!

Scouts love hammock camping.

They also love tying knots that look secure but definitely aren’t.

We need more leaders to help stop children gently rolling out of trees this September.

(They learn resilience. We learn to carry spare rope.)

Scouts love a challenge - especially the kind that involves teamwork, laughter and a slightly chaotic pile of ropes.

These games teach problem‑solving, communication and confidence in a way school never can.

Help us reopen our second troop so more young people can learn by doing (and occasionally by untying themselves).

Massive congratulations to our youngest Scouts who were awarded the Novice Fox Trophy this week! We can't wait to see them tackle even bigger navigation challenges in the years ahead. With the skills and confidence they've gained, the future of our troop is looking incredibly bright if we can find the adults to keep it going!

Map reading teaches confidence, independence and the joy of discovering what’s around the next corner.

Right now, our waiting list is full of young people ready to take their first steps into real adventure - but they need adults to guide them.

Teamwork, confidence, trying new things. This isn't just fun, it's skills for life.

Our community's teenagers deserve these opportunities, but our troop is currently full. We need to open our second troop to get them off the waiting list and into the adventure. Be the leader they need to learn the skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

The Scouts had a busy and productive night working on two great community projects for the village:

We’ve been painting displays for the Petherton Folk Festival. Keep an eye out for our handiwork flying during the festivities! 🎏

To help boost local biodiversity, we’ve been refreshing some of the village planters in collaboration with TWiG . 🐝🌸

It’s great to see the young people putting in the effort to help make the village a space for everyone to enjoy this summer.
