IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!!

We have some of these gorgeous ladies coming to us to save them from slaughter, all around 18 months old.

Do you have room for some hens in your life and your garden? If so please get in touch quickly as the more we can secure homes for the more lives we can save.

There will be a home check as part of the process and a small adoption fee.

Please message us rather than commenting if you want to rehome any hens. We will need those messages within a couple of days please.

Thank you 💜

🍂🌻 Welcome to autumn at South Normanton Allotment Association 🌻🍂

Well, where did summer go? 😄🌞

October is here, the nights are drawing in, the mornings are getting colder and the allotments are starting to put on their beautiful autumn colours. 🍁🥕🎃

It’s time to harvest those final crops, collect the pumpkins, dig up the potatoes and get those plots ready for the colder months ahead. 🥔🥕🌽

But autumn is also a great time to slow down, enjoy a cuppa ☕, have a wander around the plots and appreciate everything we’ve grown this year. 🌱❤️

From muddy boots 👢 to wheelbarrows, fallen leaves 🍂 and the occasional runaway cabbage 😂 — there’s always something happening on the allotment!

🍁 Happy Autumn, everyone! 🍁

Keep growing, keep smiling and enjoy your plots through the changing seasons. 🌻🌱

Soon be time to start bagging up them leaves 🍁☘️🍂😀

Don’t throw those autumn leaves away!

As the leaves start to fall, they can become one of the most useful – and completely free – resources for your allotment.

Making leaf mould is simple, sustainable and a great way to turn autumn waste into a valuable soil improver. But which leaves work best? How long does it take? And what can you use your finished leaf mould for?

Our latest blog takes you through how to make and use leaf mould, with practical tips to help you make the most of this seasonal resource.

Read the full blog and start putting those fallen leaves to good use!
