🎨🌸 A little creativity goes a long way at the Memory Café! 🌸🎨

Our members have been busy creating their own beautiful vases and flower arrangements and wow, what amazing artwork they produced! 💐✨

Art is so much more than creating something beautiful. It can provide a wonderful way to express ourselves, spark memories, encourage conversation and build confidence. For people living with memory challenges, creative activities can offer a sense of achievement and enjoyment without the pressure of getting things “right”. 🧡

And judging by these fabulous creations, our members certainly let their creativity bloom! 🌷🎨

We think you’ll agree… they’ve done an amazing job! 👏🌸

🌟 NEWS FOR OUR MEMBERS — MORE CONNECTION, MORE COMMUNITY! 🌟
We have some really exciting news to share! 💛
From Tuesday 1st September, and then on the first Tuesday of every month, we are delighted to be working in collaboration with Dorridge Methodist Church and their wonderful volunteers, who will be providing a delicious lunch following our Memory Café session. 🍽️
For just £4, members can stay on after the café and continue enjoying the company, conversation and friendships that make our Memory Café so special.
We know how important social connection and meaningful interaction are for people living with dementia. Having the opportunity to sit together, chat and enjoy lunch in a relaxed environment means the morning doesn’t have to end when the Memory Café does. ❤️

💜 CARING FOR SOMEONE WITH DEMENTIA — YOU’RE NOT ALONE TUESDAY 1st SEPTEMBER
We are also delighted to be working with Evolve and Flourish to deliver a FREE workshop: “Caring for Someone with Dementia — You’re Not Alone.”
This will be a valuable opportunity to gain support, information and reassurance for anyone caring for someone living with dementia.
Places are limited, so if you would like to attend, please let me know and I can reserve your space.

🪁 UNDER THE SAME SKY
And there’s more!
On Tuesday 15th September, we will be taking part in an exciting project called “Under the Same Sky”, run through Austin Dance Theatre.
Our members will be getting creative in a kite-making workshop, with more details below. 🪁✨

We are incredibly grateful to Solihull Community Development Team, who have connected us with these wonderful organisations and helped us create new opportunities for our members, families and carers.
It’s fantastic to see our community continuing to grow, with new friendships, new experiences and new opportunities to come together. 🙏💛
Please message me for more details.

🎶 What a morning of music, emotion and memories! 🎶

truly brought something very special to our Memory Café. ❤️

Her incredible voice took our members on an emotional journey through a beautiful and eclectic mix of classic songs, theatre favourites and much-loved pop.

There were moments of pure joy, moments of remembrance and plenty of emotion as our members became completely mesmerised by the beauty and power of Samantha’s voice. For a little while, it felt as though the room disappeared and everyone was transported somewhere else through the magic of music. ✨

For people living with dementia, music can reach places that words sometimes can’t, bringing back memories, feelings and connections that remain deeply rooted.

It was a truly beautiful morning, and one we won’t forget. Thank you, Samantha, for giving our members such a special experience. ❤️🎶

🙏

Also so pleased to have Liz join us from 🙏

🌟 OH, WHAT A TREAT WE HAVE IN STORE THIS TUESDAY! 🌟

🎶 Meet Mezzo-Soprano Samantha Oxborough 🎶

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the incredibly talented Samantha Oxborough to our Memory Café on Tuesday 18th August and we’re in for a very special musical experience! ❤️

A recent graduate of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Samantha is a highly regarded performer who has appeared in a wonderful range of musicals and has been recognised with numerous prizes and highly commended awards.

🌟 Her impressive career highlights include being a 2019/2020 National Opera Studio Young Artist and, in an unforgettable moment, singing the National Anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2020 Commonwealth Games!

We can’t wait to hear that beautiful voice filling our Memory Café. 🎶✨

It’s going to be a truly special morning of music, memories and, we’re sure, plenty of singing along! ❤️

We’ll see you Tuesday, this is one session you won’t want to miss! 🎵
