Some great numbers for us all to be proud of! Over 170 items brought in, and more than £7,800 saved for the good folk of the who looked for repair instead of re-purchase!

Evening, ! Tomorrow morning is the morning. ☕🔧 The tools are laid out. The kettle is on standby. Our sewing Fixers are threading up. The Linux volunteers are already debating distros (they always are).

A couple of things worth knowing for tomorrow:
🔸 Last items in by 12:30, as we close up promptly at 1PM.
🔸 We'll post live updates through the morning. If the queue builds, we'll let you know so you can time your visit. If it drops quiet, we'll give you the nod. Keep an eye on this page.

A share costs nowt and could save someone you know a fair few quid. That's proper Yorkshire logic right there!

Since we opened in August 2024, Slawit Repair Cafe has helped fix over 700 items. Not bad for a monthly gathering of a Slaithwaite community gang. 🛠️

Every one of those repairs happened because someone gave up a Sunday morning to help. Some brought technical skills. Others brought warmth, a good brew, and the kind of welcome that makes a nervous first-time visitor feel at home. Both matter equally.

If you've got a skill to share, or you'd just like to be part of something genuinely useful in the Colne Valley, we'd love to hear from you. Fixers, Organisers, tea-makers: all welcome.

Whether you need a button sewn back on, a hem mended, or a zipper rescued, our talented volunteers are here to help. Best of all, we don't just fix it for you—we love to show you how so you can do it yourself next time if you want to!

Bring your broken items and torn clothes down to see us. Let's save your beloved items from the landfill together.

Two days to go! Your broken electricals want a word. 🛠️ If you've got a lamp that won't light, a radio that's gone quiet, a kettle that's lost its boil, a toaster that's had enough of toast, or a vacuum cleaner that's somehow mislaid its suck, now's the time to dig them out.

Our Fixers handle electricals every month. They can't always guarantee a fix, but they'll always give it a proper go. And if it's beyond saving, at least you'll know for certain.

A quick note on knife and tool sharpening, as a few have asked about this.

It's not something we're offering at the June repair cafe, as we need to discuss the logistics of it as a team. But it is our intention to introduce it as soon as we know how we'll handle it, now we know there's a lot of enthusiasm for it.

So we don't have sharpening yet, but watch this space! And if you're someone with experience in this area, you have the gear and you have the knowhow, please do think about joining the team!

Thinking of bringing a computer for a Linux upgrade this Sunday? Here's your checklist:

✅ Back your files up first. Photos, documents, everything. The drive gets wiped completely during installation, and there's no going back.
✅ Bring your power supply.
✅ The device just needs to power on, even if it's painfully slow.
✅ Give it a charge before bringing it.
✅ Book your slot in advance so we're expecting you.

That's it. We'll do the rest. It's completely free, and it gives older computers a proper new lease of life.
