In 2014 it was the 75th anniversary of 17th Linthwaite Scout Group, on 15th September to be precise. We set up this page for our 75th anniversary year as a record, celebration and archive of the history of 17th Linthwaite. Now we are into our 86th year, and we will leave it up as an archive which hopefully will be added to. There must be many former members of the group out there, so plea
se would you have a think and pass on this page link to as many as you can track down. Have you got any photos, videos, documents or memories you could let us have? Are you able to add any more details to what's already here like first names, more people, places visited, things you did, dates, etc? Do you think we've got something wrong and can correct the information we've been given? Any information you can give us by email would be appreciated or if you can't send it electronically, we can arrange to copy your items or record your memories. If you have any pictures or documents which can be sent electronically, from when you were part of the group, please post them on this page and tell us a bit about them. Photographs on this page go up to about 4 years ago. We have a closed facebook group, for current Scouts & Explorers, and for parents of Beavers Cubs Scouts & Explorers, at https://www.facebook.com/groups/103355806459927/. This is where current activities and event information, and recent photographs, can be found. We've had a few enquiries recently so here is some information regarding ages /cost etc. Beavers aged 6 - 8 meet Thursday 6.00 to 7.15, Cubs aged 8 - 10.5 meet Friday 6.15 to 7.30 and Scouts aged 10.5 - 14 meet Friday 7.45-9.15 and Explorers meet Thursday 7.30 - 9. We all meet at the Linthwaite Methodist Church. Subs are £10 per month. Camps and outings are charged separately (a typical weekend camp is in the range £35-£55 but this is dependent on activities). We mostly only meet during term time. Please e-mail to 17thhudds[at]gmail.com if you want to know anything else or you want your child/children to join. There are joining forms both on the Scouts national website and the Huddersfield South West District Scouts website, but an e-mail directly to us will get where it needs to go quicker and more reliably.
