Today, we said goodbye to one of our disabled jackdaws who has gone to an amazing new home with another jackdaw friend called Odin.
He was found slumped on the ground, stone cold and close to death in a woodland copse at the edge of our paddock.
He had a badly infected eye, was emaciated, and was very dehydrated. It took a couple of days to stabilise him, and then slowly, day by day, he got stronger. It was evident after a week or so that he had lost his eye and would never be released back into the wild.
He has such a lovely temperament, and we are confident he'll have a wonderful life in one of the most fantastic aviaries I've seen!
Good luck, little buddy, we'll miss you!
