Welcome to the page for the University of Sheffield's very own Music Culture Society! We're an inclusive bunch of music lovers who listen to great tunes from across the whole musical spectrum - anything goes. As a society we put on gigs, organise parties, run a radio show, host an album club and generally have a lot of fun. Simply come to one of our meetings or send us a message. Artists

SHAMLINES 2.0 - 19/06/26

Mark your calendars for the second rendition of Sheffield’s most infamous DIY event of the year! One student house (location to be announced on the day) will host 3 stages, a main stage for bands, an outdoor space for acoustic sets, and a basement with a visual arts exhibition in the day and DJ sets at night.

The event is BYOB (although we ask that you do not bring glass containers).

There will be a very limited number of tickets available in our bio. We have options for day and night tickets, as well as a joint pass for best value.

All proceeds will be going towards the Music Venue Trust and the Snowdrop Project.

Join us at for an evening of ethereal electronica, with a headline slot from Buffee and support by Cherry Seraph and local fav Jenwynn.

It’s also been too long since the last MCS pub social and for that reason we’ll be gathering at the Rutland Arms pre-gig! Come join!

19/3/26 - MCS X BUMMIT STUDENT SHOWCASE

The musos and the hitchers unite this March, bringing you the best new acts that Sheffield’s students have to offer.

If you’re a band or artist with little experience playing live and reckon you could fill a 25-30 minute slot, send an application with a recording via the Google doc through the qr code or link in our bio.

All genres are welcomed, and submissions close 14th February.

24/1/26: ‘A German Shepherd robs a DS from a second-hand electronics store while Jesus films it in HD.’

That’s right - it’s a Dog Saints x Shoplifting1080p Co-headline, proudly brought to you by MCS. Expect heavy, atmospheric riffs alongside DS-wielding, lo-fi electronica from London’s finest, with support from ethereal pop producer Cherry Seraph.

Limited £3 tickets available if purchased before the new year, which of course includes an 11-3 after party with a short Nintendo DS DJ set from Shoplifting (definitely not one to miss) + sets from friends of MCS.

Small Decks is back!

One of the longest running events in Music Culture Society, Small Decks gives new DJs a chance to have a go on the decks in a venue setting.

This time we take to the Sidney and Matilda on the 9th December with a mix of genres. Still a few slots available, so fill out the form in our bio!

TOMORROW NIGHT !!!!! MCS present our fourth instalment of our Unplugged sessions!

Tomorrow from 8 onwards we’ll be hearing songs from Ruby and Josh! They’ll be playing a 45 minute set of their own music, which we’re sure to love.

THIS FRIDAY

We are hosting a Cherry Seraph Afterparty at our favourite Sheffield hotspot Gut Level!

Complementing the incredible gig run by Tuned In, we are bringing you tunes that will knock your glasses to the floor and throw your shoes out the window. Featuring the best of student witches and wizards, these DJs are mixing potions into party power using only the best jockey tricks.

Starting off strong with Sheffield’s own Caitlin, don’t let her starry hair clips distract you from the heat rising as she whips you into an acid dream, wooing you with minimal synth, electroclash and synth pop.

A silhouette in the smog, Betha rises from the industrial grit of Northwich to impress some sexy mammoth sounds on the shape-makers of Sheffield. Betha’s bringing back seductive house-warming, opening her garage of squelch to the masses.

Rollerblading over the Peak District back to his beloved hometown, Wilf B brings acid from Edale, dub tech from Chinley and from Hope there’s party tunes all round. Expect to dance your gloves off and sweat til the morning comes because theres no end to the magic of wilf b.
