Rooted in the Black Country. Sharing our work on an international stage. 🌍💛
The Belonging Dojo CIC has been in Brussels this week 🇧🇪
Our founder, Kerry Tidman, was invited to speak at CIICA’s global conference, joining 117 delegates from 29 countries across five continents.
For our CIC, this was an opportunity to invest in our development, share our approach and learn from people working to improve the lives of those with hearing loss around the world.
Kerry introduced the Identity Dojo, her framework bringing together therapeutic practice, martial arts philosophy and lived experience as a Deaf woman.
At its heart is the person, with four connected questions:
💛 Access: What helps me participate?
💛 Energy: What does listening cost me?
💛 Identity: Who am I?
💛 Belonging: Where can I be myself?
These questions matter for children and adults navigating hearing loss, confidence and identity. They also invite schools, workplaces and services to look beyond what they can see and consider how people actually experience their environments.
Kerry’s message was simple: we all need a dojo. A safe place to explore, practise and become who we are.
Taking this work to an international audience is a milestone we’re proud of. It creates opportunities to contribute to wider conversations, build relationships and bring fresh learning back to the communities we serve.
Our roots remain firmly in the Black Country. Our ambition is to help shape a future where more people feel heard, valued and able to belong, locally and beyond.
To funders, schools, businesses and community organisations: if you share that ambition, we’d love to explore what we could achieve together.
Thank you to CIICA for the invitation, Advanced Bionics for their support, and everyone who shared their knowledge and experience.
