Step in if you… TYC edition. TYC had an “inclusive and targeting session” lat Wednesday, where a range of discussions took place from conversations on the last GMYCA meeting where the Bee Network Strategic and Delivery plan for 2050 and the Youth Plan were explored. Afterwards we ended the session with a fun cool down where each member was allowed to share certain concerns and find similarities between them.
If you care about youth advocacy like we do join or DM us on our journey for leading a pathway for the future youth.

Trafford Youth Cabinet's Team Building Day!

Our amazing young people were given the opportunity to connect with eachother and become excellent storytellers. From icebreakers to Survival to Splat, the young people had so much fun!

Also, Trafford Youth Cabinet's members came together to create a ten-point agreement to ensure that it is a safe, inclusive space for everyone and that productivity is at its optimum!

To finish the session, the members each wrote a timeline of their lives and chose a key life event, positive or negative, that has shaped their lives and they want other people to take lessons from their talks. This increased their confidence, promoted awareness of boundaries and was emotionally moving for our Gorse Hill Studios staff!

Let's just think about this one more...

Last week, Trafford Youth Cabinet has a fantastic session regarding Psychology, led by member and General Secretary Calvin!

Calvin discussed the basics of psychology, child development, the ecological theory, memory, cognition, ethical dilemmas, emotional regulation and even led a debate with the Trafford Youth Cabinet group!

You will also be delighted to know that the Mascot vote was unanimous, and it will he an adaptation of Timmy the Microphone, or as I like to call him, "Trafford Timmy"!

Members described the session as heated, engaging, informative, fun, interesting and a great learning opportunity!

A massive well done to Calvin for having the courage to lead the session so brilliantly!

Trafford Youth Cabinet Mascot Designing!

On the 8th October, our members were busy wearing their creative hats as they designed some potential Mascots for our TYC community! We had many options from Timmy the Microphone, Ophelia the Unicorn (Taylor Swift Reference?), the TYC bee, the TYC bear, Berty Bee, the walking map of Trafford and even 67 (what does that even mean...?)

It was a fantastic session where members felt listened to and heard, and they found it insightful, fun, creative, eye-opening, supportive, heartfelt, interesting, engaging and entertaining!

Well done to all of our artists and stay tuned to find out who our Mascot will be!

On the 15th October, Trafford Youth Cabinet had an exciting and interactive session to feed into how the heritage of our wonderful borough could be celebrated and represented!

We learnt about what heritage was, examples of heritage, and what makes places become a Heritage Site! We then, using Canva, participated in some interactive questions to find how Trafford's Heritage could be best reflected upon and preserved!

Our young people found the session good, interactive, engaging, insightful, thought-provoking, interesting, inspiring and conversational!

Trafford, what a week!

We have been so busy and ever so proud of what we have achieved in the two of our Conferences we have delivered, and the feedback has been outstanding!

On Tuesday, Nathan, Trafford Council, UA92, the Violence Reduction Unit, Gorse Hill Studios and of course our lovely Trafford Youth Cabinet team delivered five workshops to Primary School pupils, ranging from Emotional wellbeing, to sport, to democracy and accessibility and transport! The young people thoroughly enjoyed the variety of workshops and our Youth Cabinet fostered many transferable skills that they applied on Friday.

On Friday, Trafford Town Hall hosted the Trafford Secondary Conference, where different schools across the borough engaged in debating, led by Youth Focus North West, and a Design Sprint led by our fantastic Youth Cabinet Lead, Nathan. The young people gained skills such as oracy (public speaking), designing, innovation, and critical thinking skills!

Trafford Council will now use the feedback they have received to further the ideas gathered from the Youth Cabinet for Trafford's Children and Young People's Strategic Plan.

Well done to all members of the Youth Cabinet who were involved in our Democracy Workshop, the Evaluation and of course the seamless organisation of both amazing events!

Finally, a massive THANK YOU from everyone involved at the Youth Cabinet to anyone who helped facilitate the two conferences to make the feedback so overwhelmingly positive!
