❤️💚 MEET THE TEAM BEHIND TEAM WALES 💚❤️

🌟 LUCY HARRATT 🌟
TEAM WALES ASSISTANT COACH

Continuing our introductions to the coaching team working behind the scenes with our Welsh athletes, today we're delighted to introduce…

❤️💚 Team Wales Assistant Coach – Lucy Barratt!

For Lucy, coaching is about much more than teaching routines and developing technical skills.

It's about helping athletes grow in strength, confidence and ability while creating an environment where every athlete feels supported and encouraged to achieve their potential. ✨

Lucy says:

❤️ “As a coach, my role is to support and develop my athletes, helping them grow in strength, confidence and ability.

I love watching my team improve, overcome challenges and achieve things they have worked hard for.

My team is a huge part of my life, and I'm passionate about creating a supportive environment where they can grow, thrive and be proud of themselves.”

And that's such an important part of coaching. 🌟

Behind every new skill mastered and every routine that reaches the competition floor are the hours spent…

💪 Building strength and ability
🎯 Working through challenges
✨ Developing new skills
❤️ Building confidence
🤝 Supporting and encouraging
🌱 Helping athletes grow as individuals

Sometimes the biggest achievements aren't medals or trophies.

They're watching an athlete finally master something they once thought they couldn't do.

They're seeing someone walk onto the floor with more confidence than they had before.

They're watching athletes become proud of their own progress.

As Team Wales Assistant Coach, Lucy plays an important role in supporting our athletes through that journey and helping them prepare for the opportunities ahead.

❤️💚 Thank you, Lucy, for the time, encouragement and dedication you give to our athletes and Team Wales.

❤️💚 MEET THE TEAM BEHIND TEAM WALES 💚❤️

🌟 KEELEY MIDWINTER 🌟
TEAM WALES HEAD COACH

Behind every athlete who steps onto an international competition floor representing Wales is a huge amount of preparation, development and coaching.

Today we're introducing the person responsible for helping shape many of those performances…

❤️💚 Team Wales Head Coach – Keeley Midwinter.

Keeley joined Team Wales as Welsh Head Coach four years ago, bringing with her an incredible 26 years of personal baton twirling experience.

Since taking on the role, Keeley has played an important part in developing Team Wales and preparing athletes for international competition.

🌍 CREATING & SHAPING INTERNATIONAL ROUTINES

From individual athletes to Team Wales routines, Keeley works closely with our twirlers to create, develop and refine routines ready to take onto the international stage.

But her role goes much further than choreography.

✨ Developing technical skills
💪 Building athlete confidence
🎯 Helping athletes reach their individual potential
🧠 Sharing knowledge and experience
🤝 Supporting fellow coaches
🌟 Encouraging personal development
🌍 Preparing athletes for international competition

Keeley is passionate about passing on the knowledge and skills she has developed throughout her own twirling journey and helping both athletes and coaches continue to develop.

For her, success isn't simply measured by medals.

It's seeing an athlete master something they once struggled with.

It's watching their confidence grow.

It's seeing years of training come together on the competition floor.

And it's watching a Welsh athlete achieve the goal they've worked so hard towards…

REPRESENTING THEIR COUNTRY.

Keeley is a dedicated and hardworking coach who takes enormous pride in seeing athletes achieve both their international ambitions and their own personal goals.

And with another exciting international season ahead, there's plenty more work happening behind the scenes. 👀🌍

❤️💚 Thank you, Keeley, for continuing to share your experience, knowledge and passion with the next generation of Welsh twirlers.

❤️💚 MEET Baton Twirling Association Cymru - BTAC 💚❤️

You've seen the competitions, the athletes and the countdown to our Welsh National Championships…

But who are some of the people working behind the scenes at Baton Twirling Association Cymru?

Today, we'd like to introduce you to three members of the BTAC team. 👋

⭐ JESSICA SHORE
President of Wales | Founder & Creator of BTAC

Jessica is the founder and creator of Baton Twirling Association Cymru and serves as our President of Wales.

With a passion for developing baton twirling across Wales, Jessica has been instrumental in creating BTAC and building opportunities for Welsh athletes, coaches and clubs to develop, compete and be part of a growing twirling community.

⭐ KEELEY MIDWINTER
🏆 Technical Advisor | BTAC Competition Coordinator | Judge

Keeley plays a key role in the technical and competitive development of BTAC.

As our Technical Advisor, Competition Coordinator and a BTAC Judge, Keeley supports the development of athletes and coaches while helping to ensure our competitions provide a positive and professional experience for everyone involved.

⭐ FAYE WRIGHT
⚖️ Judges' Representative | Head Judge for BTAC

Faye is our Judges' Representative and Head Judge, playing an important role in supporting BTAC's judging team and maintaining standards across our competitions.

Her knowledge and experience are invaluable as BTAC continues to develop and provide competitive opportunities for athletes throughout Wales.

❤️💚 Together, they share one goal:

To help baton twirling grow, develop and thrive in Wales.

From supporting athletes and coaches to developing competitions and creating new opportunities, there's a huge amount of work that happens behind the scenes.

And this is only the beginning of our introductions! 👀

📸 NEXT UP: MEET OUR BTAC CLUBS!

We'll be introducing the clubs that make up our BTAC community — sharing their team photos, where they're based and giving you the chance to discover baton twirling opportunities across Wales.

🏆WHAT MAKES A CHAMPION?🏆

As we continue the countdown to the BTAC Welsh National Championships 2026, there will soon be medals, trophies, titles and plenty of celebrations. ❤️💚

But being a champion is about so much more than what you take home at the end of the day.

A champion is the athlete who…

💪 Keeps going when a skill just won't work.

❤️ Supports their teammates — even when they're competing against them.

🎯 Sets themselves a goal and works hard to achieve it.

👏 Congratulates another athlete on a great performance.

🔥 Gets back up after a difficult training session or competition.

✨ Has the courage to walk onto the floor despite the nerves.

🤝 Shows respect to fellow athletes, coaches, officials and judges.

😊 Remembers to enjoy the sport they love.

And sometimes the biggest victory has absolutely nothing to do with where you finish.

It might be…

✨ Performing a routine without forgetting it
✨ Landing a skill you've struggled with for months
✨ Improving on your previous competition
✨ Overcoming nerves
✨ Competing at Nationals for the very first time
✨ Walking off the floor knowing you gave it everything

On Saturday 5th September, National Champions will be crowned. 🏆

But that competition floor will be filled with champions in many different ways. ❤️

To every athlete preparing for the Welsh Nationals…

Be proud of how far you've already come.

Train hard.
Support each other.
Enjoy the moment.

And when it's your turn…

STEP ONTO THAT FLOOR AND SHOW WALES WHAT YOU CAN DO! ❤️💚 BTAC WELSH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 💚❤️

❤️❤️❤️❤️
21/08/2026

❤️❤️❤️❤️

❤️💚BEHIND EVERY ATHLETE… THERE'S A TEAM. 💚❤️

When an athlete walks onto the floor at the BTAC Welsh National Championships, they might compete alone…

But they certainly didn't get there alone. ❤️

Behind every athlete are the people who have helped make that moment possible.

👩‍🏫 THE COACHES

The ones who teach, correct, encourage and somehow say “one more time!” when everyone knows it definitely won't be just one more time! 😅

They celebrate the breakthroughs, work through the difficult days and help athletes become the very best twirlers they can be.

👨‍👩‍👧 THE PARENTS & FAMILIES

The taxi drivers. 🚗
The costume organisers. ✨
The hair experts. 🎀
The early-morning alarm setters. ⏰
The competition bag packers. 🧳
The biggest cheerleaders. 📣

The people who spend countless hours getting athletes to training and competitions and supporting their dreams.

🤝 THE TEAMMATES

The friendships formed through training, competitions and shared experiences.

They practise together, laugh together, sometimes cry together and are often the loudest voices cheering from the side of the floor. ❤️

🏠 THE CLUBS

Where it all begins.

Where someone picks up a baton for the first time and, with the right encouragement, discovers just how far this sport could take them.

And then…

🏆 THE ATHLETE.

The one who has to take that final step onto the competition floor.

So when you watch an athlete perform at the Welsh Nationals on Saturday 5th September, remember that you're seeing more than one person's journey.

You're seeing the result of a whole team of people who helped them get there. ❤️

To every coach, parent, grandparent, family member, teammate, volunteer and club supporting our athletes…

👏 THANK YOU.

You are part of their journey too.

🏴❤️💚 ONE ATHLETE. ONE TEAM. ONE TWIRLING COMMUNITY. 💚❤️🏴
