✨ From the Isle of Wight to the Festival of Light! ✨

As part of our collaboration with Kala the Arts for their Light it Up Diwali celebrations, our directors have been back at the bench and in the studio, creating two large willow lanterns commissioned to feature in the Diwali parades in Reading and Basingstoke.

Each piece celebrates a different part of history and heritage. Gemma hand-painted scenes depicting the legendary tale of the Norman Conquest of England, while Hannah recreated the iconic Roman bronze Silchester Eagle in willow.

From building and painting the lanterns to carefully navigating boats and trains to deliver them, these pieces have been on a journey! Travelling from our home on the Isle of Wight, they’re now ready to light up the parades before embarking on their next adventure as part of Reading Museum’s Bayeux Tapestry exhibition.

We’re excited to be joining next weekend’s Diwali parades for our second year, and delighted to be part of this wonderful collaboration celebrating light, art and heritage.

We're looking back at all the incredible things we got up to during the enormous ? project with

First up, were revisiting the Folktastic Show with . Giving these young creatives a professional public platform to present their work was incredibly worthwhile. Seeing our giant puppets and costumes brought to life on the stage was fabulous, and we've had some great feedback and reactions from our wonderful audience!

We're getting things ready for Kala the Arts' Diwali event and this means bringing back a puppet not seen (outside our workshop) in over 10 years!

Originally designed by carnival legend Lincoln Rahamut and made by our now Director Hannah Ray, we can't wait for it to be back on the road!

Our final performance of the Folktastic Show featuring the students of Isle of Wight College: Performing Arts will be taking place at 3:30pm in the main hall at The Bay CE Secondary School.
