Ryde Carnival

Ryde Carnival Join the Isle of Wight’s most colourful celebration! Ryde Carnival fills the streets with music, dance, and parade to end summer on a high note 🎉

All are welcome to enjoy the entertaining parades that light up the town with fun, colour and carnival spirit. Ryde Carnival is the oldest carnival in the UK, dating back to the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. Today, the Carnival is run by a tiny, passionate group of volunteers with a strong community ethos. The carnival is inclusive and everyone is welcome to take part as spectators or

performers. Current performers include marching bands, royalty floats, community and family groups. In 2022, the main procession will take place at 6.30 pm on 1 September. The illuminated procession takes place at 8.30 pm on 3 September. Details of the children's procession tbc. Join us in Ryde this September to mark the end of summer in spectacular style.

🎉This week is Volunteers Week🎉 and Ryde Carnival just would not happen without the dedication of volunteers behind the scenes making it happen. From organising fundraisers and promotion, to arranging road closures, building the float, creating costumes, taking care of the Royalty Team, booking bands and dealing with mountains of admin to name a few.

Also a big thank you 🙏 to the kids who give up their Summer to represent Ryde Carnival at every carnival across the Island and beyond.
