Our thoughts are with Hastings RNLI and the family and friends of their much-loved crew member following the tragic news of their death.

As a fellow volunteer lifeboat service, we know the dedication, commitment and camaraderie that exists within a lifeboat crew, and we can only imagine the shock and sadness being felt by everyone at Hastings RNLI at this incredibly difficult time.

From all of us at Ryde Inshore Rescue, our deepest condolences go to their family, friends and fellow crew members.

📟 At 02:51 this morning the crews pagers sounded from Solent Coastguard to go an assist a vessel that had suffered a fouled prop in Wootton Creek.
Ryde Rescue 2 was launched and on the water within 10 minutes. A very Lumpy journey to Wootton in a WSW force 5 gusting force 6, but we were on scene within 15 minutes. After an assement was done and the safest option was to tow her to a new mooring buoy. Once the vessel was safely tied up, RR2 assisted the owner and towed him with his tender back up the creek to save him a row up the river.
With all safety and welfare checks with the owner, we were stood down by solent coastguard at 04.45 and made our way back to the station, after RR2 was washed down, refueled the crew left the station at 06:00 with most the them heading off to do their day jobs.
This was the first pager call out for Dan our newly qualified coxswain.
Reminder: you should never be afraid or embarrassed to call the coastguard :)

RYDE INSHORE RESCUE AT THE ISLAND VOLUNTEER FAIR!

Today we’re at the Island Volunteer Fair at The Riverside Centre, joining over 50 charities and community groups showcasing the amazing volunteering opportunities available across the Island.

We’ve been busy chatting to people about Ryde Inshore Rescue, what we do, and the many different ways you can get involved, from boat crew and shore crew to supporting our fundraising, shop and other activities.

And the best bit? You don’t need any previous experience! Full training is provided.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering and would like to help save lives on the water, come and have a chat with us today. You might just discover something you never knew you were looking for!

🚨 PARADE ROUTE CHANGE!! 🚨

Due to emergency road closures by Southern Water, we can no longer use our usual Carnival Parade route.

This is due to the sinkhole on St John’s Hill, we’re no longer permitted to start and finish along The Esplanade. This change is to help mitigate congestion in the area and keep things running as smoothly as possible.

📍 The parade will now START & FINISH at Dover Street.
The parade starts at 6.30pm

The new route will be:
➡️ Dover Street
➡️ Park Road
➡️ Star Street
➡️ High Street
➡️ Union Street
➡️ Esplanade
➡️Finish Dover Street 🏁

⚠️ Please note: This means we will be missing out a section along the Esplanade.

🚨 IMPORTANT FOR PARADE ENTRANTS 🚨
Assembly area is now along The Stand. Everyone MUST come to the assembly area via East Hill Road and turn into The Strand.

🤞 We hope that we can return to our usual parade route for the Illuminated Carnival on Sat 5 Sept, but this will depend on the road closures.

Well done to Dan who has officially qualified as a Coxswain on RR2 at Ryde Inshore Rescue! We are all incredibly proud of you 👏🏼

Please could we ask people not to put waste in the bins in our car park.

We seem to be getting quite a few very large black sacks put in there on a regular basis. Every time the bins are emptied it costs us money, so it’s becoming an unnecessary expense for us.

With the current warm weather, the extra rubbish is also starting to smell pretty bad, which isn’t pleasant for anyone using the car park.

We do have CCTV covering the area, and we can see what’s going on. We’d much rather just ask people to stop doing it than have to start reporting people for fly-tipping or a potential breach of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Please use the appropriate facilities for your own waste and leave our bins for their intended use.

Hopefully we can sort this without having to take it any further.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK OUTSIDE OUR STATION

We are once again asking drivers not to park in the area directly outside Ryde Inshore Rescue Lifeboat Station.

This space is required for our lifeboat crew vehicles when we are called to an emergency. If our volunteers cannot park immediately on arrival, it can delay our response to someone in need. When an emergency call comes in, every second matters.

This is not a designated public parking area, and vehicles parked here are at risk of receiving a parking fine.

The signs are clearly displayed. Please respect them and keep this area clear at all times so our emergency crews can respond without unnecessary delay.

Your cooperation could make a real difference when someone’s life is at risk.

You don’t need to have previous experience – just enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to be part of a fantastic team. We provide all the training and support you need.

There are several ways you can help:
Boat Crew - Respond to emergencies on the water.
Shore Crew - Support launches, recoveries and operational activities.
Charity Shop Volunteers - Help raise the vital funds that keep our independent lifeboat service running.

Every volunteer plays an important role. Whether you’re on the lifeboat, on the shore or in the shop, you’ll be helping us continue our mission of saving lives at sea and supporting our local community.
