Welcome to Serve's page, a Northamptonshire charity dedicated to improving lives through home care, support for family carers, and combating loneliness. SERVE is a voluntary organisation and a registered charity
We have been providing services and assistance to older people and adults with disabilities in East Northamptonshire and surrounding areas for over 30 years

Our aim is to provide

the highest quality of health and social care to enable people to remain living independently within their own home. We understand the needs of an individual aren’t just those at face value and we deliver a service to a wide range of adults, who need care and support.

💜 7,403 hours of kindness, friendship and connection. 💜

During 2025–2026, our amazing volunteers gave 7,403 hours supporting older adults experiencing loneliness and isolation, through friendly visits and telephone befriending.

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. 💜 Their time and kindness help people feel connected, valued and less alone.

But there is still so much need. We currently have 640 hours of support waiting to be filled with older adults who need a weekly friendly visit or a reassuring voice at the end of the phone. 💜

Why not volunteer with SERVE and make a difference? Your time could change someone’s week, and you could be part of 7,403 hours of friendship in 2026–2027. 🌟

NEW SERVICES NOW OPEN AT SERVE!

We’re excited to launch two new services designed to make everyday life easier, bring more enjoyment into your home, and support you when things feel difficult to manage.

Activities at Home
Enjoy more of the things you love, with a friendly activity worker supporting you to enjoy an activity of your choice in the comfort of your own home. Perfect for individuals and family carers.

House to Home
When your home feels like too much to manage, we’re here to help. More than a quick clean, we can support you to clear, organise and refresh your space with care, understanding and no judgement.

Both services are just £23 per hour.

Our waiting list is now OPEN!

💙 Would You Benefit from a Friendly Doorstep Visit?

Are you 65 years or over and sometimes find yourself feeling a little lonely, isolated or in need of a friendly chat?

SERVE is launching a new Befriending Warden Scheme in East Northamptonshire, offering free, friendly doorstep wellbeing visits to older residents.

Our volunteer Befriending Wardens can:
💙 Pop by for a friendly chat and check-in
💙 Offer reassurance and a friendly face
💙 Help you feel more connected to your local community

Visits are brief, friendly doorstep check-ins. Volunteers do not enter your home.

Sometimes, a friendly face and a few minutes of conversation can make a real difference. 😊

👨‍👩‍👧 Know someone who could benefit?
If you have a family member, friend or neighbour aged 65+ who you think would appreciate a friendly doorstep visit, please get in touch with us on their behalf or encourage them to contact us.

🌟 One hour. One visit. One meaningful connection. 🌟

💛 Could you spare just ONE hour a week to make a real difference?

We’re looking for kind, friendly volunteers to support our Befriending Project in Rushden, Higham, Raunds and surrounding areas, visiting older adults in our community who would love some regular companionship and a friendly face.

For some older adults, a regular one hour visit each week can give them something to look forward to - a chance to have a chat, share a cuppa and feel connected. ☕💬

We’re currently looking for volunteers who can commit to a regular weekly visit on:

You don’t need any special qualifications - just a little time, a friendly nature, and a willingness to make a difference.

Our new House to Home service will work alongside people to make positive, manageable changes, one room at a time.

Whether it’s clearing a safe pathway, making a kitchen usable again, creating a safer living space, or reclaiming a room that has become overwhelmed with belongings, we’ll focus on realistic goals at a pace that feels achievable.

No judgement. No pressure. Just practical, person-centred support.

Our new Activities at Home service brings fun, friendship, and meaningful activities right to your door.

From feeding the ducks and flower arranging, to music, games, and hobbies, our friendly Activities Workers spend time doing the things that you enjoy, creating something to look forward to each week.

Our new Activities at Home Service is designed to bring more fun, creativity, and enjoyment into everyday life.

Whether you’d like to try a new hobby, rediscover something you love, or need a little extra support to continue doing the things you enjoy, our friendly activity staff will work with you to create sessions that are personalised to your interests and abilities from the comfort of your own home.

It can also provide valuable support for family carers, giving you some well-earned time for yourself while your loved one enjoys a meaningful and stimulating activity.

Something new is coming to Serve, our House to Home Service.

This is more than a cleaning service. House to Home is designed to support people whose homes have become difficult to manage, whether through clutter, hoarding behaviours, or following a change in circumstances.

We work alongside you or your loved one, taking time to build trust and supporting you to make decisions about your home and belongings. From decluttering and organising to removing unwanted items and making a home safer and more manageable, the focus is on helping people regain control and turn their house back into a home.

Unlike a traditional cleaning service, we don’t simply come in and clear things away, we work with you, at your pace, with your choices at the center of the support.

The charge for this service will be £23 per hour.

🏠 We’re Hiring – House to Home Worker

Serve is looking for a House to Home Worker to join our new service, helping people create safe, clean, and manageable homes.

The role involves deep cleaning, decluttering, organising, and helping people experiencing hoarding behaviours, always working with compassion, respect and without judgement. It is a practical and physically demanding role, so applicants must be physically fit and comfortable with lifting, carrying, and working in a range of home environments.

💷 £12.71 per hour
⏰ Flexible hours
📍 Community-based across Northamptonshire
🔄 Temporary to permanent, subject to the success and sustainability of the service

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to people's lives and help them regain confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
