Our Year 12s also started yesterday with a welcome from our Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Dermott-Bond and Dr Carr, our Assistant Head of Sixth Form, reflecting on what makes RH6 special, how it gets you ready for the next stage of your life and equips you with the skills for it. Students were encouraged to be independent, ambitious and creative, to stay curious and aim to work collectively and collaboratively with each other.

The Year 12s had a day of introductions and icebreakers, understanding the ethos of RH6 and getting to know the vision for sixth form and their form. They were challenged to match fellow Year 12s to characteristics like being a guitar player to liking pineapple on pizza and had a 'speed dating' event where they had to talk to fellow students for 45 seconds on topics from the 'best thing you did over the holidays' to 'your favourite TV programme.'

They've been introduced to the global citizens' personal development programme, gained insights from current Year 13s on surviving Year 12, were challenged by a treasure hunt and had a studying tips session from our Sixth Form Learning Mentor.

They were even treated to a fashion show, which brought the uniform policy to life with what they can and can't wear in RH6! Welcome to Sixth Form!

Yesterday was the first day for our new Year 7s! They spent the morning getting to know their form and the school, being introduced to the plan for this week, the school house system, the homework policy and the all-important system for the lunch queue! They are having their fingerprints scanned so they can buy lunch and also delicious break-time snacks including crunchy nachos, spicy samosas, more-ish pizza and yummy pastries.

Our new students tried navigating around school on an orienteering trail, getting set up on the school IT system, learning about e-safety, having fun icebreaker activities and of course learning about the school motto of 'Kindness, Care and Respect'!

We're looking forward to be welcoming our students back to school this week!

All of our new Year 7s are coming in tomorrow from 8.40am for the start of their 3-day induction programme! On arrival they’ll head to the sports hall, then have some time with their form tutor, receive their timetable and planner and learn about everything from the house system and homework to how the lunch queue operates!

Tomorrow is also Induction Day for all of our Year 12 students. Please arrive by 8.40am to be registered and write your name sticker and we’ll start with an introduction to RH6 in the hall, from 8.50am. You’ll be spending the day getting to know your fellow students with ice breaker activities, getting top tips from Year 13s on surviving A Levels and wellbeing, learning skills for meeting deadlines and how to use study periods and more!

Please can all Year 7s and 12s bring a packed lunch and water bottle tomorrow.
All years are back in school on Thursday 3rd September and we hope you’re excited for the Autumn term at RHS!

📱Remember we are now a phone-free school and students in Years 7-11 should place their mobile phone in their locker for the day. Students in Years 12 and 13 can carry their phones in their bags and details of when they can be used will be shared by the RH6 team.

Rugby High School students are celebrating simply exceptional GCSE results today. After the great success of our A-Level results last week, today our students are celebrating the fact that 28% of all grades awarded this year are a grade 9, with well over half of all grades (56%!) being grades 9-8. A superb achievement for our students, families and the staff at RHS.

Our Head teacher Mark Grady has said: “We could not be prouder of our students, receiving these results today. They have worked incredibly hard, and deserve every success. To have exceeded the number of grade 9s and 8s achieved last year and in 2019 is a superb effort. The school continues to go from strength to strength with these exceptional results.

The average grade achieved by our students was a grade 8 and with 4% more grade 9s than last year and 5% more grades 9-8 than last year. Students achieved nearly 10% more grades at 9-7 than last year.

In further fantastic news for our students, 8% of students gained eight grade 9s or more, 18% of students gained all grades 8 and 9 and 81% of all grades awarded were grades 9-7, 9% more grades at this level than last year.

Clearly, our students follow the motto of Rugby High School, and have set the highest of heights in their hearts. What wonderful success! It is a real testament to the quality of education students receive at RHS, and proof of our students’ determination and hard work to achieve the very best. We could not be happier for our students and their families, and they should be rightly proud of such outstanding results. Simply exceptional.

Once again, our outcomes prove that RHS is absolutely the place where you can rely on getting the very best grades and even more importantly, the support to ensure you can make successful next steps in life. This is a testament to the incredible work of our staff, and of course, the dedication and commitment of our students and families, working in partnership with us to gain the very best outcomes.

We are so proud of their efforts, and wish them every success in their next steps, the vast majority of whom will be staying on to complete A-Levels here at Rugby High School.

We are quite simply overwhelmed at the success stories of our students.”

We're celebrating the amazing successes of our Year 13 students today! Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to achieve their results and good luck for the next step of your journey - we’ve got students heading off all over the country from Cambridge to Aberystwyth, Bristol to Warwick, to study exciting new subjects from drama to veterinary medicine. Others are starting an adventurous gap year or a degree apprenticeship with JLR.
