OurJay fundraising was set up following the loss of our precious Jamie, January 2022. We are raising funds to purchase desperately needed outdoor accessible defibrillators, to be sited at locations around Rugby. These life saving pieces of equipment are vital, even more so in Rugby, where there are currently catastrophic ambulance response times.

We (Naomi and OurJays team) have won ‘The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Community Thank You Award’ in the West Midlands Police Excellence Awards!

I know I say it all the time, but whenever I’m struggling, my Jamie sends me some good news, he makes sure I don’t give up the fight and he always does it just at the right time! 💙

We are campaigning so hard for Jamie’s Law (to make sure all police vehicles are carrying a defibrillator) and we have been able to donate a lot of defibrillators to West Midlands Police, meaning that there are so many more police officers equipped with life saving equipment across the West Midlands. Sergeant Kelly Webber and everyone at WMP have been so supportive and now we’ve been surprised with this amazing award…BEING PRESENTED TO US AT AN AWARDS CEREMONY THE DAY AFTER JAMIES BIRTHDAY IN NOVEMBER THIS YEAR!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. You don’t realise how much this means to us all and we are truly honoured to have been given this award.
We will continue our fight, with MP’s, down at Westminster on the 10th September, alongside officers from West Midlands Police and Warwickshire Police and we won’t give up, until it is mandatory for all police vehicles across the UK to carry defibrilllators!

Today is National Grief Awareness Day 💙
I feel like I’ve had my eyes opened a little bit this week. I keep thinking that I’ve got to keep my sadness ‘in check’ & not to be ‘too upset’ in front of people, but that has just added to the anxiety I’ve been struggling with in secret. Admitting that I’m too anxious and it’s a real problem has got to be the first step, right?
That doesn’t mean I’m ill, or incapable of doing things, it just means that I’m trying to be more honest about it & I’m going to try to get some help with easing it a little bit. I’ve not told anyone about this, only Jem of course and I think it’s been as hard for him as it is for me. He’s known for a long time that my ‘public face’ is very different to my ‘private face’ and I think he’s just been waiting for me to realise it.
Things like having to respond to OurJay emails and calls instantly while I’m on holiday, have made me realise that my anxious brain needs to just be calmed a bit. Not accepting help when it’s offered and trying to figure everything out myself is no good for me or anyone else really, but it’s what I’ve let myself try to do.
I’m gonna take this week as a break, not answer emails, calls or messages, not because they’re not important, because every single one is so important to me, but because if my brain doesn’t rest a bit, I’m gonna become useless for OurJay and most importantly for Jem, Callum and Jamie.
I’m not feeling sorry for myself and I know there is so much sadness out there at the moment and so many people are struggling with grief, but there is no ‘right way’, we just need to figure out what’s the best way for us to deal with things in our own hearts and minds. My heart feels like it’s missing, it has done since the day I lost my darling Jamie, but if I can settle my brain a bit, then I can focus on keeping the fight going and moving forward in this different future that I’ve been given.
I appreciate everyone so much, but this is the mum part of me, admitting I need to slow a little bit 💙🩵💙
Sending all my love to anyone who is sad today or even to anyone who is happy, grief affects everyone differently and you’re all doing amazing ###x

We just wanted to show you all OurJays accessible defibrillator number 397!
Now installed and emergency ready as part of our partnership with Virgin Media/O2 at The Promenade, Bridlington.

There was very good reason behind this one. O2 had the defibrillator inside this store and it was triggered by 999 emergencies on 3 separate occasions, where it was actually used to save lives. This encouraged O2 to make the defibrillator 24/7 accessible, in the hope that more people can benefit from its availability at all times. Thank you to Jay, from O2 for continuing to support us in achieving more 24/7 publicly accessible defibrillators, to save more lives, in memory of our precious Jamie. A lot of you met Jay at OurJay Festival 2026, she is an amazing support and a very special part of OurJays team! We continue to work with O2 to make many more defibrillators available to communities.

Jamie, somewhere we never expected to see your beautiful little face, but we are all very proud that you are now shining bright over Bridlington. Keep guiding us darling boy and we’ll keep fighting for change. We miss you so much 💙🩵💙

💙EMERGENCY READY AGAIN💙

As well as installing new community accessible defibrillators, OurJay also helps, wherever possible, to ensure that defibrillators that need replacement parts, are back to being emergency ready as quickly as possible.

We were contacted by Julie, Jo and Graham, a local family from Dunchurch (plus other residents of Dunchurch), who were concerned that the Dunchurch Community Library defibrillator had been put out of service, due to expired parts. We chatted with the Parish Council and agreed that we would do our best to get this defibrillator sorted out and back on 999 asap!
Yesterday, Naomi took the replacement pads and battery to the defib, gave the whole unit a good clean and re-registered the device on The Circuit, meaning it is all now available again, for the Dunchurch community.

A common misconception is, that if OurJay are putting new accessible defibrillators out there, the current ones aren’t as important. This is completely untrue and we must continue to work together to ensure more heart safety across communities…we want to add to the community defibrillator network, not replace it 💫💫💫

Another gap area now heart safer, thanks to Häfele UK Ltd.
OurJays accessible defibrillator number 392 is now installed and emergency ready at Hafele, Brownsover Road, Rugby.

We’ve got a lot of thank yous! Firstly, Iain McKillop, who first talked to OurJays Jem about this idea a long time ago. Ryan and Kevin who worked hard to get the electrics and the H&S all sorted, MD Richard for providing this great site and of course Ben (Schmit) who has kindly picked up the defib guardianship for us. None of it possible without OurJays hero’s, James Parks JRP Electrical Services, who installed this for us, amazing as always 💫💫
Rugbys support is, as always, just unbelievable and we cannot express how grateful we are to you all for your kindness and understanding around Jamie’s legacy 💙

This is another special one for Jamie. We are proud to have supported Brett at Castle Ashby Fishery to install a 24/7 accessible defibrillator for his team, visitors and the public.

A very sad incident recently at the fishery made everyone realise the vital need for a defibrillator being available 24/7. We chatted to Brett and got the defib and cabinet to him within a couple of weeks, he installed it 2 days later and he is now the guardian for this community defibrillator and it is emergency ready on 999. There will also be a bleed control kit in this cabinet very soon. Thank you to Turtle Medical for getting the OurJay cabinet out to us so quickly.

It’s so hard to know when is the right time to tell you all big news from OurJay. With all the fires and other horrible stuff that’s in the news at the moment, it never feels right for us to be so proud of something, but this is huge for us, for the public, for the Police and most of all for Jamie!

I’m sure you all remember us handing over 7 defibrillators to West Midlands Police a few months ago, as part of our ongoing campaign for ‘Jamies Law’, which we hope will make it mandatory for every police vehicle across the UK to carry a defibrillator.
Well, following some amazing fundraising and some donations, we have now been able to donate a further 11 defibrillators to WMP.

This further donation was vital, as this now means that all local policing areas across the West Midlands now have 1 or more defibs available in response cars 24 hours per day!! 💙💙💙 (we know this isn’t enough yet, but it’s a step in the heart safer direction!)

We’d like to say a huge thank you to West Midlands Police, particularly Sergeant Kelly Webber, for seeing us, hearing us and backing us! Also thank you to Chief Superintendent Sam Batey and Chief Inspector Sam Jones, the commanders for Bloxwich police station and all the officers who came to receive this donation from Naomi and Tracey from OurJay.

We were pleased to have Mark from WEL Medical Limited alongside us for this important handover. Our defibrillator suppliers, also strongly support us with our campaigns and make the defibrillators so much more affordable for us, meaning that profit makers don’t make more money on life saving equipment for our emergency services.

WE KEEP FIGHTING! JAMIES LAW HAS TO HAPPEN! WITH POLICE OFFICERS FIRST ON THE SCENE TO SO MANY CARDIAC EMERGENCIES, GIVE OUR OFFICERS THE LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO HELP, UNTIL PARAMEDICS CAN BE THERE TO TAKE OVER!
