OurJay fundraising was set up following the loss of our precious Jamie, January 2022. We are raising funds to purchase desperately needed outdoor accessible defibrillators, to be sited at locations around Rugby. These life saving pieces of equipment are vital, even more so in Rugby, where there are currently catastrophic ambulance response times.

I’ve honestly got so many things that I need to post about. So many events, so many updates…
But some days, I need to just share Jamie!
This is one of the few photos I have, that shows my baby boys quirky sense of humour and the strange things we use to find funny together.
After this photo was taken, Jamie sat looking through them all and just laughing to himself. I always found it so lovely that Jamie could laugh at himself and he always found himself so funny…’Built different’ as he always made sure we all knew.

Wednesdays are always the worst days, but everyday is so hard without Jamie. There are no good days, but I love to remember funny memories. People say to me all the time, that Jamie’s beautiful smile and big brown eyes were just adorable…but I’m lucky that I can still remember the beautiful sound of Jamie’s laugh..it is the best sound in the world and it will always be so loud in my head 💙🩵💙

I miss you too much my darling boy ### ILYM, Mum 🩵

Apologies again for a late post.
This evening I went along to meet all the brownies at 4th Bilton Brownies.
We talked about the importance of CPR and defibrillators and all the girls had a go at trying chest compressions and using our training defibrillators.
What a great group of girls, with some brilliant questions and considering some of them have very small arms and struggled with strength, they all gave it a good go and we had lots of red lit foreheads!

I think it is so important that CPR/defibrillator awareness is taught at a young age. Virtually everyone who was there tonight, knew where their nearest community accessible defibrillator was and they had no fear when they heard the defib and even when they were pressing the shock button, which usually can be quite nerve racking. Confidence is so important with these life saving skills.

Thank you to the young lady who gave us a donation out of her own pocket, what a kind thing to do 💜💙

A huge congratulations to Tom, Karl and Bill, who today smashed the Ultra Challenge Lake District 50km challenge.
These guys have trained so hard for their challenge and have raised an amazing £1627.00 for OurJay Foundation (which is more than a whole community accessible defibrillator!).

We are so grateful to you all and we hope you can enjoy a rest now..before you do something else a little bit crazy! 💙🩵

When our guardian for the Brunswick Healthy Living Centre community defibrillator went along to do her checks earlier this week, after being notified that the bleed control kit had been used in an emergency (we hope anyone involved is ok), she contacted me to say that her children, Oliver (aged 12) and Annabelle (aged 11) wanted to help us with the cost of getting it replaced.

Oliver and Annabelle have recently sold some of their old toys and bits and pieces and as a family, they’ve donated £45 towards the cost of the bleed control kit. We’ve been along today and put a brand new bleed control kit in the cabinet, alongside the defibrillator…so that’s 2 life saving pieces of equipment back in place 💙❤️

Thank you Amy, Oliver and Annabelle, this was a very generous, selfless thing you both did and your family should be so proud of you both 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Jem woke up this morning and told me he was looking forward to his day off!!! 👀
😂😂 Ha…yeah right Pal!

A busy day with some new bleed kits put in cabinets, pad replacements, a few defib checks (one needed making emergency ready again). Collecting some really important banners from IDGenie (you’ll see them appear somewhere soon!)
A meeting with our friends at Poppy’s Pantry Rugby (eeek opening soon!) ☕️
Some banners and flags dropped off ready for a special event tomorrow evening…plus we got to see some of our most beautiful woofy defib guardians! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🚜
Now, off to Wolston Parish Council meeting to chat about accessible defibs in Wolston.

These days are so crazy busy, but so so important for OurJay and making sure our precious Jamie’s legacy is fighting strong. Awareness is key 💙🩵💙
The boy made sure we avoided the rain today as well, he still takes good care of us ###

Playing post catch up…
OurJays accessible defibrillator number 362 is installed and emergency ready at Pailton Pastures Farm, off Montilo Lane, Pailton Rugby 🚜

The owners not only funded this community defibrillator (with the help of OurJays charity discounts) but they also arranged installation of this life saving equipment themselves. They chose to make this community accessible, to help make their own community heart safer. We are very grateful for their kindness and support in what we are trying to achieve, in memory of our precious boy.

Jamie…how can we possibly be talking about defibrillator number 362…when we started this mission to keep your legacy alive, Rugby only had 7 accessible defibrillators! It’s crazy the difference you are making in our town, but we’d just give anything to have you back here with us. Missing you is hell, memories of you are everything 💙🩵💙
