💚It's across the UK, a chance to think about the importance of being green and what we can do to help our planet.

🟢At Rugby Borough Council, we have made delivering a "Greener Rugby" a core part of our service. We are committed to improving and maintaining the Borough's natural environment, and that means taking action, not just talking about it.

Here are just some of the initiatives we have been working on to make your town and villages greener:

🌱 Launching our Community Champions project with Garden Organic
🌍 Supporting local climate action with Rugby Eco Hub
🏘️ Community Resilience project supporting Parish Councils and localised community to create Emergency Response Plans
🔍 Nature in Focus event in partnership with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust to discuss the state of nature in Rugby. This work is being continued with an exploration into a Network for Nature being led by community groups
🌊 Rugby River Champions project in partnership with University of Birmingham that will train volunteers to collect samples and monitor the water quality of Borough waterways
🌳 Free Trees for Farmers project with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust providing free tree packs to local farmers
🏫 RBC's Woodland Wanderers programme is being delivered in 3 schools, getting primary school children connecting with nature
🏡 Social Housing Fund: Warm Homes Wave 3 which will retrofit over 1,000 social homes to improve the energy efficiency , reducing costs and likelihood of mould, as well as greenhouse gas emissions

We have been lucky enough to be apart of showing this very inspiring film: Power House

Two artists in Walthamstow set out to take their street off the grid, kickstarting a solar-powered energy revolution. Inspired by lockdown mutual aid initiatives, artist-activists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn decided to turn their street into an energy-generating powerhouse. By turns funny and heartwarming, Powell and Edelstyn’s film is a vibrant portrait of their local neighbourhood, and a charming testament to the power of art in changing minds about what could be possible.
