We have an amazing team who support each other and step in when someone is away. Occasionally, though, we simply don’t have enough cover—and today is one of those days.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding. 💚

At The Pantri, we're big believers in using what we already have, reducing waste and making good things affordable.

At The Sycamore Centre in Ty Sign, Tiny Treasures is doing exactly the same thing for the littlest members of our community. 👶💛

Quality baby clothes, shoes, blankets, toys and equipment are being preloved, reused and reloved, rather than going to waste, with prices from just 50p.

🛍️ There’s more than food at The Pantri!

We have some great deals on toiletries, cleaning products and pet products, plus cosy winter snowsuits and coats for little ones aged 0–2 years. ❄️🧥

💚 A LITTLE REFURB… AND A LOT MORE TO COME! 👀
The Pantri will be closed Saturday 12th September while we make some changes behind the scenes.

We’re working on ways to bring even more offers, choice and support to our customers – so watch this space! 👀💚

The school summer holidays have been particularly tough for many local families, and we’ve seen a big increase in people needing crisis food support. As always, The Pantri is about offering a hand up, not a handout – helping people through a difficult patch with dignity and choice.

🥫 Could you help us restock our crisis food supplies?

We’re currently welcoming donations of ambient, unopened and in-date food – tins, packets, pasta, rice, cereals, sauces, snacks and other cupboard essentials.

We’d also LOVE to hear from local streets, workplaces, businesses, schools, sports / youth clubs or community groups who could organise a simple “Tin on the Wall” collection point. Even a small box of donations gathered regularly can make a huge difference when lots of us do it together.

♻️ FROM THE PANTRI… TO TINY TREASURES 💚

Some of you might remember that Tiny Treasures actually started right here at The Pantri.

And when you think about it, the two projects have always shared the same idea:
Why throw away something perfectly good when somebody else can use it?

At The Pantri, we redistribute surplus food, offer affordable baskets and make sure free support is there when someone genuinely needs it.

Now we want to do the same with baby and children’s items. 👶♻️

Tiny Treasures has moved into its own space at The Sycamore Centre in Ty Sign, and we’re giving it a bit of a new direction.

💚 COULD YOU SPARE JUST 3 HOURS A WEEK? 💚

The Pantri is looking for some lovely people to join our volunteer team.

This isn’t just about stocking shelves or serving customers. Every few hours given helps us support local people, reduce food waste and stop perfectly good food from going to landfill.

🥕 PANTRI VOLUNTEERS

We’re looking for friendly, reliable people who can spare just 3 hours, once or twice a week to help with:

🛒 Stocking and organising shelves
💚 Welcoming and serving customers
📦 Keeping The Pantri tidy and well stocked
😊 Being part of a friendly community team

No experience is needed — full training will be given.

🌟 VOLUNTEER PANTRI SUPERVISOR

We also have a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to take on a little more responsibility.

Our Supervisor Volunteer will help organise and oversee our Monday delivery, make sure stock is organised and ready, and welcome and serve customers.

📅 Every Monday, 10am–2pm
📍 The Pantri, Risca

You don’t need previous supervisory experience. We’re looking for someone reliable, organised and with good attention to detail who can commit to Mondays.

There are opportunities for additional volunteer hours if you’d like them, but these are completely optional.

🌿 WHAT IS THE PANTRI? 🌿

The Pantri is about good food feeding people — not landfill. ♻️💚

Every week, huge amounts of perfectly good food are at risk of going to waste.

At The Pantri, we rescue and redistribute surplus food, giving it another chance to do exactly what it was produced for — feed people.

🛒 Everyone is welcome to shop with us.

By purchasing a Pantri basket, you’re helping reduce food waste AND supporting a community project.

Although much of our food is surplus, it isn't all free to us. We pay fees and purchase much of the surplus food we redistribute.

Every basket purchased helps us cover those costs, along with the overheads involved in keeping The Pantri running.

💛 Want to do a little more? Pay it forward.
You can contribute towards a basket for somebody locally who may be having a difficult time.

💚 Struggling yourself?
Please talk to us. We provide free food baskets for people in genuine need, discreetly and without judgement.

💜 THE PANTRI IS CLOSED TODAY & TOMORROW – AND WE’RE CELEBRATING THAT! 💜

Our team worked on Saturday, so we’re giving them today and tomorrow off to enjoy a well-earned Bank Holiday break. 🌿

Our volunteers and staff give thousands of hours of their time to support our community, and sometimes looking after the people who look after everyone else means simply giving them permission to switch off, rest and enjoy their time too. 💚

Although The Pantri is closed today and tomorrow, CVW never completely disappears.

🆘 If you are in genuine need or crisis, please contact us.
There is always someone working quietly in the background who can respond when our community really needs us.

And whatever you’re doing this Bank Holiday — working, spending time with family, getting outdoors, or doing absolutely nothing — we hope you manage to take a little time for yourself too. You deserve it. 💜

💚 A BITTERSWEET PANTRI POST… AND A NEW OPPORTUNITY!

We’ve got some sad news for us, but brilliant news for Megan. 🥹

Our wonderful Megan will soon be leaving The Pantri for a new job.
Megan originally joined us to build her confidence, gain experience and develop her employability skills — and we are incredibly proud to say she’s done exactly that. ❤️

We really don’t want to lose her, but this is what volunteering should be able to do: give people opportunities to grow, develop and take their next step.

Their gain is definitely our loss! Megan, thank you for everything you’ve brought to The Pantri. We wish you every ounce of success in your new role. 💚

Which means… we have a Monday-shaped hole in our team! 👀

We’re looking for a new Pantri Volunteer – Mondays, 10am–2pm.

This is an important shift. Our Monday delivery arrives during this time, so alongside serving our lovely customers, you’ll help oversee the delivery, check and label products correctly, pay attention to allergen information and get stock safely organised and put away.

You don’t need previous experience — although retail, food or stock-handling experience would certainly be useful. What matters most is that you’re:
Reliable, patient, friendly, methodical, eager to learn and comfortable taking responsibility.

This could be perfect for someone wanting to build experience for employment, or perhaps someone retired or with a little spare time who wants to stay active, meet people and give something back to their community.

You’ll have a great team around you, full training and the chance to become part of something that makes a genuine difference locally.

And as Megan has just proved…
You never quite know where volunteering might take you. 💚
