🌿 WHAT IS THE PANTRI? 🌿

The Pantri is about good food feeding people — not landfill. ♻️💚

Every week, huge amounts of perfectly good food are at risk of going to waste.

At The Pantri, we rescue and redistribute surplus food, giving it another chance to do exactly what it was produced for — feed people.

🛒 Everyone is welcome to shop with us.

By purchasing a Pantri basket, you’re helping reduce food waste AND supporting a community project.

Although much of our food is surplus, it isn't all free to us. We pay fees and purchase much of the surplus food we redistribute.

Every basket purchased helps us cover those costs, along with the overheads involved in keeping The Pantri running.

💛 Want to do a little more? Pay it forward.
You can contribute towards a basket for somebody locally who may be having a difficult time.

💚 Struggling yourself?
Please talk to us. We provide free food baskets for people in genuine need, discreetly and without judgement.

🥫 Got food to spare?
We also gratefully accept suitable food donations, which help us support even more people locally.

💜 THE PANTRI IS CLOSED TODAY & TOMORROW – AND WE’RE CELEBRATING THAT! 💜

Our team worked on Saturday, so we’re giving them today and tomorrow off to enjoy a well-earned Bank Holiday break. 🌿

Our volunteers and staff give thousands of hours of their time to support our community, and sometimes looking after the people who look after everyone else means simply giving them permission to switch off, rest and enjoy their time too. 💚

Although The Pantri is closed today and tomorrow, CVW never completely disappears.

🆘 If you are in genuine need or crisis, please contact us.
There is always someone working quietly in the background who can respond when our community really needs us.

And whatever you’re doing this Bank Holiday — working, spending time with family, getting outdoors, or doing absolutely nothing — we hope you manage to take a little time for yourself too. You deserve it. 💜

🙋 AND WHILE WE HAVE YOUR ATTENTION… WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

💚 A BITTERSWEET PANTRI POST… AND A NEW OPPORTUNITY!

We’ve got some sad news for us, but brilliant news for Megan. 🥹

Our wonderful Megan will soon be leaving The Pantri for a new job.
Megan originally joined us to build her confidence, gain experience and develop her employability skills — and we are incredibly proud to say she’s done exactly that. ❤️

We really don’t want to lose her, but this is what volunteering should be able to do: give people opportunities to grow, develop and take their next step.

Their gain is definitely our loss! Megan, thank you for everything you’ve brought to The Pantri. We wish you every ounce of success in your new role. 💚

Which means… we have a Monday-shaped hole in our team! 👀

We’re looking for a new Pantri Volunteer – Mondays, 10am–2pm.

This is an important shift. Our Monday delivery arrives during this time, so alongside serving our lovely customers, you’ll help oversee the delivery, check and label products correctly, pay attention to allergen information and get stock safely organised and put away.

You don’t need previous experience — although retail, food or stock-handling experience would certainly be useful. What matters most is that you’re:
Reliable, patient, friendly, methodical, eager to learn and comfortable taking responsibility.

This could be perfect for someone wanting to build experience for employment, or perhaps someone retired or with a little spare time who wants to stay active, meet people and give something back to their community.

You’ll have a great team around you, full training and the chance to become part of something that makes a genuine difference locally.

And as Megan has just proved…
You never quite know where volunteering might take you. 💚

💚 WHO SUPPORTS THE PERSON WHO SUPPORTS YOU? 💚

We talk a lot about the people who support the people — and now we’d like to celebrate someone in our community who deserves a little thank you too.

Do you know someone who is always there?

Someone with a hand to hold, a shoulder to cry on, a warm smile or a kind word?

It could be a friend, neighbour, colleague, volunteer, carer or simply someone who quietly makes life a little better for the people around them.

🥔 Don't Throw Those Potatoes Away! 🥔

We've been receiving lots of potatoes at The Pantri recently, and we want to make sure as little as possible goes to waste.

Did you know that if a potato has started to sprout, it's often still perfectly safe to eat? Simply remove the sprouts, any green parts, peel it, and cook as normal. It's only when potatoes become soft, mushy, shrivelled or rotten that they should be thrown away.

Our friends and partners at FareShare Cymru have put together this really helpful guide to help reduce food waste and make the most of every potato. 💚

🌊🧜‍♀️🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, me hearties... we're setting sail again today and Thursday! 🏴‍☠️🧜‍♂️🌊

After the amazing feedback from our first Mermaid & Pirates Parties, we're back for more magical adventures... and we still have a few tickets left!

Our incredible entertainment team were absolutely fantastic, keeping little pirates and mermaids (and plenty of grown-ups too!) smiling, laughing and joining in from start to finish. The children loved every single minute, and so did the adults!
