A big thank you to the people behind the scenes 💜

We shared lots of lovely photos from our Summer Fun Day yesterday, but we also wanted to say a huge thank you to all the people who helped make the day happen.

From planning and preparing beforehand, to setting up, running activities, helping families throughout the day and clearing everything away afterwards, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes at events like this.

We’re incredibly grateful to our staff, trustees, volunteers and everyone who gives their time and support to help make these days possible.

It means children, young people and families can turn up, get involved and enjoy the day, while all that work behind the scenes is taken care of 💜

Thank you to every single person who played a part.

What a brilliant day we had at our Summer Fun Day at Serennu on Sunday! ☀️💜

Sparkle families enjoyed a day packed with fun, with everything from circus activities and sports to face painting, animals, games, ice creams and plenty more!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day so special, including Newport Live, Circus of Positivity, KeyCreate, Animals Interactive, Gwent Police, Mini Athletics SE Wales, Make a Smile - Cardiff, MediCinema and Disability Sport Wales and Mr Potato Ed 🥔

We’d also like to say a big thank you to Newport City Council's Playwork Holiday Project and One 2 One Logistics for their support in helping make the day possible. 💜
It was lovely to see so many children, young people and families enjoying everything on offer and having such a brilliant day together. ✨

Ball-pit adventures, parachute games, messy play and plenty of getting stuck in!

There’s been lots going on at our Sparkle West Summer Holiday Activities, with plenty of time to play, explore and enjoy being together.

Thursday nights belong to Hattie and Bessie 💜

For identical twins Hattie and Bessie, Sparkle Youth Club is somewhere to spend time with friends, try new things and enjoy a little independence away from Mum and Dad.

From crafts and climbing walls to learning new life skills and catching the train to Cardiff with their friends, their Thursday nights have become something they look forward to.

But perhaps what matters most is much simpler.
'They have friends there. They have a huge sense of belonging.'

Their mum, Natalie, told us what Youth Club has meant to Hattie and Bessie, and to their family. And the girls told us their favourite bits too.

Sparkle needs to raise £750,000 every year to keep its services running. Your support helps more Thursday nights like Hattie & Bessie's possible.

Sparkle is looking for a Funding & Impact Officer to join our team on a part-time, permanent basis.

✨ 22.5 hours per week
🏡 Home based with travel to our Rogerstone Head Office and events as required
💜 Help secure funding that enables children and young people with disabilities and developmental difficulties across Gwent to thrive.

We’re absolutely delighted to share the final fundraising total from this year’s Sparkle Fest at Rodney Parade 💜

What started as a small Sparkle Market at Serennu Children’s Centre just three years ago has grown year after year, and this summer we welcomed hundreds of people to our biggest event yet.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported that journey, and to everyone who helped make this year’s event such a success.

Every pound raised will help us continue supporting children and young people with disabilities and developmental difficulties, and their families, across South Wales.
