✨ Sparkle at the IHEEM Awards Dinner ✨

Earlier this month, Sparkle had the honour of attending The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management - IHEEM Awards Dinner at the Celtic Manor Resort. It was a fantastic evening celebrating excellence, innovation, and leadership in healthcare engineering and facilities management.

Our Fundraising Support Officer, Tracey Holloway, was given the opportunity to share Sparkle’s story - highlighting the impact of our work and the difference our support makes every day 💙

The event was attended by special guest Jonathan Davies CBE, former Welsh rugby union international and British & Irish Lion. The evening was hosted by Adrian Davies, former Welsh international squash player, who brought great energy to the event.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of guests, an amazing £2,080 was raised through the raffle - with attendees donating to enter for a chance to win two personalised, signed rugby shirts from Jonathan Davies 🏉

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved for their support, generosity, and for making the evening so memorable. Together, we continue to make a difference ✨

Volunteers play a vital role in helping us create opportunities, experiences and support for the families we work with every day.

What a month it’s been 💜

We’ve had everything from science experiments and indoor games to basketball, outdoor fun and plenty of halt-term holiday fun!

Across our clubs, there’s been laughter, teamwork, new friendships and so many moments of confidence shining through.

Today, we’re celebrating a lovely milestone at Sparkle. 💜

Carla Hopkins, part of our Senior Leadership Team, has officially been part of the Sparkle family for 15 years!

If you know Carla, you’ll know there’s truly only one of her. She brings so much warmth, laughter and personality to Sparkle, and has a way of making people smile wherever she goes. She’s fun, full of energy, endlessly kind, and someone who cares deeply about both the people around her and the organisation itself ☺️

"Carla has been part of Sparkle right from the very beginning, working behind the scenes and helping keep everything on track. A lot of what she does isn’t always visible day to day, but it shows in everything the charity achieves and the difference it makes. Carla is a great colleague and a good friend, someone who is always there when you need her and who brings a bit of calm (and usually a bit of humour) to even the busiest days. Sparkle would not be what it is today without Carla, and she is deeply appreciated by all who have the privilege of working alongside her." Sara Filer, Senior Leadership Team.

We’ve got space adventures, childhood classics, superheroes, video-game favourites and a very good dog all heading to the big screen at Serennu over the next few weeks ✨

Our MediCinema screenings are relaxed, inclusive and free for eligible children, young people and their families attending the centre, making it possible for more families to enjoy the magic of cinema together 💜

We are looking for volunteers to help us out in our Sparkle Cafe at Serennu Children's Centre.

We recently had an unannounced visit from the Food Standards Agency and, our lovely Jackie was thrilled to once again secure a 5-Star Food Hygiene rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐so you'll be in great hands.

Support is needed on Mondays and Tuesdays between 10am and 2:30pm so, if you can spare any time during those hours, we'd love to hear from you 💜

Everyone loves a full circle moment 💜

Growing up, Meg attended Serennu Children’s Centre as a child. Years later, wanting to give back to a place that had supported her so much, she returned as a Sparkle volunteer.

What started as temporary volunteer hours became seven incredible years supporting families through MediCinema, building friendships, growing in confidence and making a lasting difference to children and young people along the way.

As Meg now begins an exciting new chapter following the completion of her degree in Accountancy and Finance and securing a full-time role, we wanted to celebrate her journey and say a huge thank you for everything she has given to Sparkle and our families.

Her journey, from being supported by Serennu as a child to giving back so selflessly over the last seven years, has been truly inspiring.
