πŸ’œ This Refugee Week, we're celebrating courage, community and compassion.

Refugee Week is a chance to recognise the strength πŸ’ͺ, resilience 🌱 and contributions 🌍 of refugees and people seeking sanctuary, while reflecting on how we can all help build communities where everyone feels safe and welcome. This year's theme, Courage πŸ¦‹, reminds us that courage can be found in everyday momentsβ€”from asking for help to offering kindness, standing alongside others, or starting again in a new place 🏑.

For people who are also experiencing domestic abuse, those everyday acts of courage can feel even greater. Barriers such as isolation πŸ•ŠοΈ, language differences πŸ—£οΈ, uncertainty about rights ❓ and limited support networks can make reaching out incredibly difficult.

At ESDAS, we believe everyone deserves to live free from fear πŸ›‘οΈ. We provide free, confidential support to anyone affected by domestic abuse, whatever their background or circumstances.

Together, we can help ensure that everyone feels heard, supported πŸ€— and safe 🏠.

If you or someone you know needs support, we're here to listen.πŸ’œ

Last night England won but not all survivors of domestic abuse will be celebrating.

While football does not cause domestic abuse, existing abuse can intensify around tournaments like these.

Together, we can say: enough is enough. Together, we can help protect women and support survivors.

⚽ Football brings communities together. Abuse tears them apart.

As the World Cup begins, let's remember that domestic abuse is never caused by sport, alcohol, stress, or disappointment. It is always a choice.

This tournament, ESDAS is asking our communities to stand together and send a clear message:

πŸŸ₯ SHOW DOMESTIC ABUSE THE RED CARD πŸŸ₯

If you are worried about yourself, a friend, family member, colleague, or neighbour, support is available.

Across Surrey, specialist domestic abuse services are here to help:
