Grandparents

Have you got Grandchildren to look after and entertain on Saturday 13th June? Would you like some help?

If so, why not bring them along to the Family Fun Day at Moons Moat organised by the Moons Moat Conservation Group.

From 11 am 3 pm there will be lots of interesting, informative and fun activities to keep your grandchildren occupied whilst you have a cup of coffee.

Activities include…..

• A bouncy Castle to let off steam
• Face Painting to make them look cute
• Woodland Crafts to make
• Colouring sheets to crayon
• “Brass Rubbing” Nature Trail to follow
• Wildflower Meadow to inspire them
• Splat the Rat and other games to play
• Mr Bubbles to wonder at
• Ice Cream Van to treat them
• A police car they can sit in
• and Moat history and Nature Displays and talks to bore them.

Who knows, you may also find it interesting and informative learning about one of Redditch’s hidden gems of local history.

It’s all happening at the Moons Moat Scheduled Ancient Monument which is off Rickyard lane between Arley Close and Barwood Close in Church Hill South.

Unfortunately those of us that work in the community at grass roots level know far to well how common abuse is locally.

Nice evening at the pond.

The willow has been woven to help the weaker side , the flowers and plants are growing. I've started to chop back the stingers at the entrance to the orchard and found an area of hedges that has been completely broken. Not been into woods yet I will look later in the week and go kn the hunt for binders. Anyone wishing to help out in their spare time please do chop back more of the orchard entrance and anyone that wants to rake up what is already done it will make great mulch for under the hedges. I wont start the access as it seems to ge protecting the hedges for now there.
There is now a nice bench to sit on in the orchard and 2 more to be situated in there. We also have some lovely benches for in the woodland. If you would like to help in any way with installation of things or maintenance please get in touch.
We will soon be needing suppliers for signage and materials . Please do fill our contact form in if you wish to give us a qoute and keep the money local.

Some of our newly laid hedges have been vandalised over the last couple of weeks. We cant afford to bring the hedgelayers back. Luckily I know the theory and Tom has talked me through the repairs.

I am unable to access materials myself atm but am keen to get them fixed asap.

So those that understand the terminology please help.

I need some binders , willow is fine. The areas broken can then be fixed enough for stability in the Midland weave they should be ( i hope 👀) until season starts again to tidy them up so as not to disrupt wildlife in those areas.

Can I also please add that the ways some of these hedges have been damaged is dangerous. If someone you know comes home with a stick stuck up their arse dont blame us for them being foolish.
