🎉🎉 WE DID IT 🎉🎉

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated, volunteered and supported our building repairs. Because of your incredible generosity, our refurbished scout hq is officially completed and ready to use.

To celebrate this event, you are invited to our BBQ and AGM afterwards, no pressure to stay.

FRIDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER
Time : 6pm BBQ
7pm AGM
Scout Headquarters, Station Road, Rayne. CM77 6RX

Come and grab a burger or a hot dog and check out the refurbished building, meet the team and celebrate the amazing community spirit that has made this possible. We cannot wait to see you there ⚜️⚜️

We will be running a small raffle on the night too.

1st Rayne Scout Group would like to say a huge thank you to all the team and regulars at the The Welsh Princess in Rayne, who after a World Cup sweepstake donated the proceeds to the refurb of the Scout Hut. ❤️❤️

It's amazing when a community pulls together, we have had so many kind donations. ❤️

After extensive building works and a lot of help from the whole volunteer team especially our Group Scout Leader Kevin Welsh and our Committee we will be ready to open again in September. 🎉🎉

Now we just need more adult volunteers! Who's in??

We are nearly finished and will be ready to return in September.
New doors have now been fitted so the hut is now more secure.
Painting is almost finished.

We are now looking for the following for the finishing touches
A window cleaner with an offer of a reduced rate or donation of an external and internal window clean and gutter clean out
Bean bags and large cushions
Low tables and chairs for our younger sections.
Gravel/stone for the driveway to finish off.

We are nearly over the finish line.

Duck Race Cancelled

Sadly we have made the decision to cancel the Duck Race for now.

We may run it later in the year if not it will be back next year. We have had to concentrate on getting our building back up and running which it will be very soon.

Obviously the duck race is the one big fundraiser for our group so when we have our grand reopening we will be holding a big raffle to try and recover some of our loss

With that in mind we are now looking for raffle prizes. If anyone knows of any businesses or people that would like to donate a raffle prize we would really appreciate it

Thanks to everyone for the help so far. We are still looking for volunteers to run our Scouts and get our cubs back up and running. We will be back scouting soon.

*** PROGRESS UPDATE ***
Work is now well under way at the Scout Hut

Ceilings all painted

All lights have been changed to more up to date and safer LED lights.

New flooring has been laid throughout and look fantastic.

Decorating is well underway, only 3 more areas to finish

Damaged furniture has now been removed and new tables and storage shelves have been ordered.

New doors have been ordered and will be fitted by the end of June

Its all going to plan at the moment and we are hoping to be back enjoying our fresh looking building by the end of July.

The final bits and pieces that we will be looking to purchase are some lower tables for the younger members, colorful roller blinds, bean bags and other soft furnishings for a quieter area.

We are also looking for someone who may be able to offer to clean all the windows inside and out and also someone to empty the gutters.

Work is now well under way at the Scout Hut
Ceilings all repaired, plastered and drying out ready to be painted
All lights have been changed to more up to date and safer LED lights.
Old floor completely removed and now ready for new flooring to be laid next week.
Decorating to be completed
Alot of furniture was found to be damaged by the water so all disposed/donated where possible.

Its all going to plan at the moment.

We are currently going to need to replace storage cupboards and shelving. Paint and decorating rollers, brushes etc. New tables and desks. Maybe even some new curtains or blinds.

Our Squirrels and Beavers had an absolutely awesome visit to HART NHS Station at Great Notley! We cannot thank the team there enough for the way they engaged and demonstrated some of the equipment, and told us about their jobs. Squirrels and Beavers even got to try some of the specialised equipment and sit in a number of their cool vehicles. Special thanks to Mark and his team!!

Ticked off part of the Local Suoerhero Badge and definitely inspired some HART Paramedics of the future. ❤️

Our youngest section Squirrels (aged 4-6) had an awesome day yesterday at joining 180 other Squirrels from across the county, trying all sorts of new adventures including caving, go karting, zip lining, assault courses, age appropriate archery, axe throwing, and crossbows, arts and crafts, and bouncy castles. The day was rounded off with the traditional campfire and songs!!

All squirrels achieved their 'All About Adventure' badges. What an experience for them! Great job Squirrels!! 🐿️ 🙌
