We’re hiring! Swan Transport, who manage the Food Club, are looking for someone positive, motivated and great to work with to join our small team for around 8 weeks.

We’d love to hear from anyone who thinks they’d be a good fit - we’re looking to fill the role quickly

It was lovely to hear about some of the local community groups, especially those we are able to transport passengers to, and new ones we will connect with, at tonight’s Annual Radstock Town Council Meeting.

Thank you Radstock TC for continuing to support us with community grants, and thank you to your wonderful team who give us so much support, advice, plus a venue for and help with Food Club! We couldn’t do it without you.

We look forward to continue working closely with you 🤲

How Citizens Advice can help:

Citizens Advice offers free, independent, and expert advice across a huge range of areas:

Money and Debt: They help manage debt, explore options like debt relief orders, and provide a Money Map tool.

Benefits: Advisors assist with benefit checks, applications (specifically Universal Credit), and appeals.

Housing and Utilities: They provide guidance on tenancy rights, homelessness, and help resolve disputes with energy suppliers via their Extra Help Unit.

Consumer Issues: Advisers provide advice on returning faulty goods, contractual disputes, and can escalate complaints to Trading Standards.

Employment and Legal: Assistance with workplace rights, unfair dismissal, and navigating legal aid.

Practical Support: They help fill out complex forms, draft letters, and negotiate with companies or landlords.

The club is on the lookout for food contributions big or small from the local community and businesses.

Today we took part in a workshop for a very relevant research project being led by BANES Council and the University of Bath on the topic of transport and its links to accessing affordable food.

As custodians of the Radstock Food Club, long-standing providers of community transport, and organisers of isolation-busting groups within BANES, we are excited to be able to contribute and use our community connections to make a difference in this area.

It was brilliant to connect with multiple organisations working towards this common goal, including representatives from Bath Mind, 3SG, Radstock Community Hub & Library, Hope House Surgery and more.

We’d really love to hear your own thoughts on how transport affects your ability to access affordable food, particularly if you are based in Radstock and the surrounding villages/locality.

Please comment with your thoughts, or if you wish to stay anonymous - or just not publicly share - you can direct message us, or email [email protected].

We’d especially love to chat with you if this is an area that really affects your everyday life and your mental health - we’d be happy to meet face to face in a coffee shop, in the library, or where ever you feel most comfortable - there’s no judgement here!

Thinking about transport -
🚙Is there anything that makes it difficult for you access affordable food?
🚙If that issue was able to be solved, what would it look like, and what difference would it make you your life? (practically and emotionally)

❤️ We can’t wait to hear from you!
