Announcement

Knowsley Council is working with community partners to ensure that every child who receives Free School Meals can access a free lunch over the summer holidays. The decision follows the end of the Government’s Household Support Fund in April 2026, which has previously funded Free School Meal vouchers over school holidays.

The Council stepped in to fund vouchers during the May school holiday and is now working with community partners including ourselves to provide a lunch to children who receive Free School Meals in term-time.

You can register with Friends of Eaton Street or the Park Pantry Community Food Club on their messenger pages, with your name, post code, and number of children registered in your household to receive free school lunches. You will then receive confirmation to collect your lunch ingredients on each Thursday in August (loaf of bread, spread, sandwich fillings - per child).

You can order for all 4 weeks together (your order will need to be placed by Tuesday 4th August) or you can order weekly but you will need to order by the Tuesday of each week in order for our volunteers to shop for the correct amount of children.

*Please note Non-Collection of orders will trigger cancellation of the remaining weeks orders.

Please queue from here today to shade our customers. Refillable cordial will be available but we do not supply cups so bring a beaker.

It has also been brought to our attention that men are urinating in the park. This is an absolute NO NO, there are cameras in the park and potential to expose yourself to people using the park, which is a safeguarding issue.

The shop opens at 11.30 or earlier if delivery permits. As you are aware there is enough of everything for everyone so being first doesn't mean you get the best offer, and so getting to the park from 7am to wait in a queue is not necessary. However we appreciate there is a great community spirit and opportunity to interact and you are responsible for the times you choose to arrive.

Tesco opens at 6am, if you arrived at 4am you would not expect them to open for you to access the toilets.
Regardless, the toilet in the pavilion has been problematic for months and the volunteers have to leave setting up the shop to manually flush when used so we are not in a position to offer this resource.

We understand the toilets in the in-shops are still accessible but will confirm today and also contact Prescot Town Council to ask if their toilets can be used (they open at 9am). Please let the customer in front of you and behind know you are going to the toilet and your place will be saved. Abuse of this (going missing for more than 30minutes will result in losing your place). Please note the time the person leaves the queue and if in excess find a member of staff to resolve - please do not attempt to police this yourself!

We will also put the bollard out starting the queue under the trees today to try and shade our customers.

Thank you so much to Michael the joiner who has made all of our shelving at the pantry and completed our order with a bespoke shelving unit in our Pantry Annexe over the weekend. (we would highly recommend should anyone want his details.)
