🌟We would like to take this time to celebrate schools that have recently achieved the Young Carers in Schools Programme accreditation.🌟

🎉We want to recognise and celebrate the following schools: Cwmcarn, Cefn Fforest Primary, Glyn-Gaer Primary, Ystrad Mynach Primary, and Bedwas High for their dedication and commitment to supporting young carers within their school.

🏆Rosie and Courtney who work for the programme have delivered plaques, acknowledging the positive work taking place at these schools and to value their ongoing efforts in ensuring young carers are being identified, listened to, recognised, and supported.

💜Taking part in the programme, the schools have shown the importance of creating an environment where young carers feel understood and supported in reaching their full potential inside and outside of school.

👏Let's take this as an opportunity to wish them a huge congratulations and a massive thank you to all staff who have been involved in making a real difference with supporting young carers.

📩If any schools are interested in learning more about the programme or would like to discuss how they can receive support in working towards the accreditation, please be in contact with the Gwent Carers Hub and we will be more than happy to help!

🌟 Carers Week 2026 – A Look Back at an Amazing Week in Our Communities! 🌟

What a week it’s been! Carers Week is always a special time for us, but this year our team truly went above and beyond. We’ve loved being out and about across the community meeting carers, sharing information, offering support, and celebrating the incredible work you do every single day.

From drop‑in sessions and information stands to community events and conversations over a cuppa, our staff have been busy making sure carers feel seen, valued, and supported. 💙

We’ve put together a little recap below, along with some photos of what the team have been up to throughout the week. We hope these snapshots give you a sense of the energy, connection, and commitment that went into every activity.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat, asked questions, shared their stories, or simply said hello. And of course, a huge thank you to all carers your dedication makes such a difference, and we’re proud to stand alongside you.

Take a look at the highlights below 👇

💙 Carers Week Challenge 💙

Today members of the Gwent Carers Hub team Megan, Rosie, and Courtney are taking on a special fundraising challenge by climbing Pen y Fan ⛰️
But they won’t be doing it lightly…
🧺 They’ll be carrying everyday household items to represent the real, daily load that unpaid carers carry often without recognition, without a break, and without being seen.

💭 Every item symbolises the physical, emotional, and mental responsibilities that carers manage every single day.
This challenge is about more than just the climb it’s about raising awareness, showing appreciation, and standing alongside carers 💙

✨ If you’re an unpaid carer, we see you. We value you. And we recognise everything you do.
📢 Please support, share, and help us raise awareness of the incredible role carers play in our communities.

If you would like to support this initiative, donations can be made via the following link:

Gwent Carers Hub Team are walking Pen-y-Fan during Carers Week, carrying everyday items to symbolise the unseen load unpaid carers carry. Funds raised will support local carers’ wellbeing, reduce isolation, and provide practical help.

💙 Carers have the right to be heard 💙

Under the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, carers have the right to have their views, wishes, and feelings listened to and taken into account when decisions are made about the care and support of the person they care for 🗣️

💬 Your voice matters.

You know the person you care for better than anyone, and you have the right to be involved in decisions that affect both of you ❤️

✨ You deserve to be heard, valued, and included.
