The Prince of Wales Hospice

The Prince of Wales Hospice We are passionate about supporting people with life-limiting illness and their families. We help over 1700 local people of all ages each year.

We like to think that we are an integral part of the ‘Five Towns’ community, offering round-the-clock care 365 days a year. We don’t just treat patients with cancer either. We deliver optimal care with comfort and dignity to patients with a wide range of life-limiting illnesses with the majority of our patients returning home after their symptoms have been managed. We provide the best possible care we can. We do all we can do – and we can do a lot. Please help us to continue making a difference.

Our Free Will Service is designed to be simple, friendly and supportive from start to finish. We asked our supporting solicitors what people can expect when using the service.

What should people expect when using a free Will service like yours?

"The process for creating a Will using our service is straightforward, friendly and adapted for your own individual circumstances and needs."

A huge thank you to all our supporting solicitors: Accord Legal Services, Switalskis Solicitors, Ridley & Hall Solicitors - South Elmsall/Pontefract, JWP Solicitors, Ison Harrison Solicitors, and Carters Solicitors.

Providing care with dignity is central to everything Jess and our nursing team do.

A specialist bath for patients enables us to safely support individuals with complex needs, ensuring comfort, hygiene and dignity are maintained at every stage of care.

Through our Nurses’ Wish List Appeal, we are raising funds for essential equipment like this to enhance patient wellbeing and support our nursing teams.

For more than six years, Millennium Support has been making a difference at our Hospice.

Since 2019, the people they support have regularly visited the Hospice to care for our gardens and allotment, helping create welcoming outdoor spaces for patients, families and staff. Their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm can be seen throughout our grounds, and the impact of what they do goes far beyond gardening.

The environment around Hospice care matters deeply. A peaceful garden can offer a quiet place to reflect, spend time with loved ones or simply enjoy a moment away from the challenges that illness can bring. Through their ongoing support, Millennium Support helps make those moments possible for countless people every year.

Steve Clough, Owner of Millennium Support, said:

"One of the things that makes me most proud is seeing the sense of pride the people we support have in what they achieve."

That pride can be seen every time the team visits the Hospice. Their contribution continues to enrich our Hospice community, while creating opportunities to develop skills, build confidence and make a meaningful difference.

Creativity, community and compassion came together for a wonderful evening at Giving from the Art.

Held at Rogerthorpe Manor and hosted by Gaynor Barnes, the event welcomed Hospice supporters and art lovers for an evening of artwork, conversation and fundraising. Organised by Lynette Carlton from our Supporter Engagement Forum, the event featured an incredible collection of generously donated artwork, including a piece created by one of our patients, making the evening even more meaningful.

Guests also enjoyed a live painting demonstration by artist Sandra Openshaw, adding to the vibrant atmosphere throughout the evening.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of everyone involved, an amazing £2,357.85 was raised to support vital Hospice care for local patients and families.

We would like to thank Lynette Carlton, Rogerthorpe Manor, Gaynor Barnes, Campsall Art Group, Sandra Openshaw, everyone who donated artwork, and all those who attended and supported the event.
