🥵 Scorchio! 🥵

☀️ Plymouth is set for a scorcher! ☀️

With near-record temperatures forecast over the next few days please take extra care of yourselves, your pets and vulnerable people around you - particularly children and elderly people.

A couple of simple tips to remember ⬇️

💧 Keep topped up with water, especially if you’re out and about enjoying the sunshine.

🌞 Remember sunscreen, hats and a bit of shade during the hottest part of the day.

🌊 Heading for the sea, a local lake or a river? Get in gradually rather than jumping straight into cold water.

🧊 No air conditioning? Try placing a bowl of iced water in front of a fan for a cooler breeze.

🏠 Keep curtains or blinds closed on sunny windows during the day, then let the cooler evening air in when temperatures start to drop.

👋 If you have older neighbours, relatives or friends, a quick check-in can go a long way during very hot weather.

And don’t forget our four-legged friends! 🐶🐱

💧 Make sure pets always have access to fresh water and shade.

🐾 Avoid hot pavements, which can burn paws.

🚶 Consider early morning or evening walks when it’s cooler.

🚗 And never leave animals in parked vehicles, even for a short time.

Stay safe and enjoy the glorious weather ☀️

While many of us look forward to the England game, major sporting events can bring increased fear and risk for people experiencing domestic violence or abuse.

If it's happening to you, or you're worried about someone else, help is available. And you don’t have to wait for an emergency to get help.

Find out how to get support, and spot the signs of domestic violence.
