🎉 Meet our 2027 RPS-commissioned composer!

We're delighted that Claire Cope has been selected for the Royal Philharmonic Society's 2027 Composers Programme, through which she'll create a new work for the Ryedale Festival.

We're looking forward to working with Claire and the RPS, and sharing more new about this exciting commission in the new year.

Congratulations to Claire and all the composers selected. What a brilliant line-up!

⭐ Announcing the 2027 RPS Composers! ⭐

We are excited to commission Amy Crankshaw, Anibal Vidal, Claire Cope, Edward Mascall-Robson, Jingyu Chen, Joanna Lee, Louis Palfrey and Ruby Colley, to compose new music for UK audiences!

Over the next year, we'll support their professional development with workshops and mentoring. They'll each collaborate with a valued performance partner, including Cowbridge Music Festival, City of London Sinfonia, Fenella Humphreys Violin, Leeds Song, Onyx Brass, Presteigne Festival, Ryedale Festival and Swaledale Festival.

From internationally recognised artists and extraordinary performances to beautiful Yorkshire places and opportunities for young people, there's no shortage of stories to tell.

We're looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas, create engaging content and help us make the most of what makes Ryedale Festival special.

This would be a freelance collaboration throughout the year, with a particularly active role during the summer Festival, attending events in person, meeting artists, discovering stories and capturing the excitement of the Festival as it happens.

We'd love to hear your ideas. We're inviting proposals from individuals or small teams who think they could make a difference. Please tell us a little about your approach and experience, including examples of previous work.

This will be a two-stage process. Following an initial review of proposals, we'll invite a shortlist of applicants to respond to a specific creative brief, giving us a chance to explore their ideas and approach in more detail.

Our friends at BMS York are about to start their new Chamber Music Concerts season! Featuring six varied chamber music groups performing once a month from October to March, the season begins with cellist Kosta Popović and pianist Valentina Wang next Friday 9th October at York University's Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall.
