We have enjoyed a wonderful summer with lots of members attending various activities and workshops ever expanding their knowledge, experiences and wisdom. Sandra W has been to many workshops at WI House at Thirsk and thoroughly enjoyed them! Jesmonite & book binding, making a silver clay and seagrass necklace, and also paper marbling, plus woodturning to name a few! (See pics attached) Amanda & Rachael took to the skies with other WI North Yorkshire East Federation for an exhilarating gliding taster event at the Wolds Gliding Club Pocklington! THEY LOVED IT!! Many members also enjoyed our group ‘Summer Social’ event kindly held at the home of Katy & Phil Newton, another wonderful supper together and we let our ‘other half’s’ along to that one! fun laughter and fabulous food were enjoyed by everyone. Please do tell your neighbours, friends, tag and share our doors are always open to new members! Keep ‘Flying the Flag’ for WI you wonderful ladies 💕💕

Annual ‘meeting share’ with Middleton Aislaby & Wrelton WI thank you to the lovely Anna Tennant who kindly shared her knowledge of her career as ‘textile breakdown artist’ in the film, tv & theatre industry, very informative and interesting share. Thanks Anna! And everyone who enjoyed helped make it such a successful evening. MA&W WI thanked us for an enjoyable evening.

🌞 What a brilliant day at Goathland Village Show! 🌞

A big thank you to everyone who supported the Lockton, Levisham & Goathland WI stall on Saturday. It was a fantastic success and a great chance for members to muck in, meet the community and share WI news.

We enjoyed plenty of sunshine, smiles and wonderful community (and competitive!) spirit, with old-fashioned fun including tug of war and obstacle course games

We’re also delighted to share that we raised our most successful amount ever for WI funds — thank you all for your incredible support!

Such a fabulous play. Heartwarming, funny, moving and inspiring play based on WI history! If you haven’t already seen this play, the reviews are spot on, book your tickets now before it ends on 25th July at Scarborough SJT. Emma and Sarah thoroughly enjoyed watching it this week 💯🩷🤍❤️

Three members of Lockton, Levisham & Goathland WI enjoyed a quick catch-up and photo opportunity while attending the Groundswell Regenerative Farming Festival in Hertfordshire at the beginning of July.

It was a brilliant event celebrating regenerative farming and biodiversity, with hundreds of inspiring speakers, demonstrations and opportunities to learn. A fantastic few days full of ideas and inspiration!

A huge thank you to Sarah for joining us and sharing such an inspiring talk about the incredible work of FutureworkFurniture Works Works Scarborough.
It was wonderful to hear how the charity supports young people to gain qualifications, workplace skills, confidence, self-belief and the life skills they need to thrive. Their work goes far beyond preparing young people for employment – it helps them grow into confident adults with brighter futures.
