Today, on Armed Forces Day, we want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a fantastic Armed Forces Week!

Over the past few days, it has been wonderful to see individuals, organisations, families and communities across the UK coming together to celebrate, support and recognise the Armed Forces community.

Behind everyone who serves, or has served, are families, friends and loved ones whose support can make all the difference. They share in the realities of service life, from time apart and changing circumstances to the challenges that can come with military service. For some, that support continues through injury, illness, rehabilitation and recovery, standing shoulder to shoulder every step of the way.

At Hounds for Heroes, we see the impact of that support every day. We see it in the families, friends and communities who stand beside those we support, helping to make our life-changing partnerships possible.

Today, we celebrate everyone who makes up the Armed Forces community, those who serve, those who have served, and the families, friends and communities who stand beside them.

Thank you.

An assistance dog partnership isn't the end of the journey.

In many ways, it's the beginning of a new one.

The confidence to try something new. The freedom to do more independently. The reassurance of having a capable partner by your side.

For the physically disabled serving and former members of HM Armed Forces and the Emergency Services we support, an assistance dog partnership can help make everyday life that little bit easier, opening up new opportunities and helping people live with greater confidence, freedom and independence.

This , we're celebrating the life-changing difference that small charities can make.

Every partnership represents years of training, support and dedication, but most importantly, it represents a future filled with greater confidence, freedom and independence.

Because a partnership is about more than what an assistance dog can do.

It's about what becomes possible together.

A huge thank you to the fantastic team from Moneybarn Vehicle Finance, part of the Vanquis Group, who recently spent the day volunteering at Hounds for Heroes. 💙

Armed with paintbrushes, enthusiasm and plenty of energy, they helped continue the transformation of our office space, creating a brighter and more welcoming environment for everyone who visits our centre.

While our dogs are busy changing lives, there is always plenty happening behind the scenes to keep our charity running. Support like this makes a lasting difference. Not only does it help us improve our facilities, but it also means more of our charitable funds can be directed towards training and supporting life-changing assistance dog partnerships.

Thank you to everyone involved for your hard work, enthusiasm and commitment. We loved having you with us! 🐾

If your organisation would like to support Hounds for Heroes through a volunteering day, we'd love to hear from you.

Most people see the finished partnership.

They don't always see everything that comes before it.

Before an assistance dog is matched with their future partner, there are months of learning, development and real-world experience.

Travelling on buses and trains. Settling calmly in busy places. Working safely around mobility equipment. Retrieving dropped items. Opening doors.

Every journey, every new environment and every skill helps prepare a dog for the role ahead.

Behind each future partnership is a dedicated team helping every dog build the confidence, experience and practical skills they'll need to support their future partner.

This Small Charity Week, we're celebrating the countless small moments that help create a big impact.

Because big impact doesn't happen all at once.

It happens one journey, one skill and one training session at a time.

Today, on Reserves Day, we recognise and thank the thousands of Reservists who dedicate their time to serving our country.

Balancing civilian careers, family life and military commitments, Reservists play a vital role in supporting operations both in the UK and around the world. Making up around one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel, they provide invaluable skills, expertise and capability across a wide range of specialist areas.

As a charity supporting physically disabled serving and former members of HM Armed Forces and the Emergency Services, we are proud to acknowledge the commitment, professionalism and contribution of Reservists across the UK.

To all Reservists past and present, thank you for your service.
