Please pray for Rev’d Canon Faiz Jirjees MBE.

Rev’d Faiz knows his congregation deeply - not simply as names on a register, but as people whose lives, struggles and stories he shares.

He continues to lead worship, visit the vulnerable, encourage the weary and remind people that they are not forgotten.

Under his leadership, St George’s has become an extraordinary witness to hope and peacebuilding in Baghdad - welcoming Christians, Yazidis and people from other backgrounds into a community of prayer, practical care and belonging.

Lord, strengthen Rev’d Faiz in his ministry. Fill him with Your Spirit as he leads his people. Amen.

Please stand with Rev’d Faiz and the community of St George’s.

ā€œEvery time when we come to the church, we feel rest, peace and loveā€¦ā€

These are the words of a member of St George’s congregation in Baghdad.

At a time when families are living with anxiety, exhaustion and uncertainty, St George’s is one of the few places where people feel safe, welcomed and known.
People come to worship.

They come to pray.
They come for food parcels.
They come for medical care.
They come for friendship, encouragement and peace.

In a city marked by fear and fragmentation, St George’s is a place where hope is still alive.

Please support Mosaic’s urgent appeal so this ministry of hope, healing and refuge can continue.

A bruised reed he will not break.

In Baghdad, St George’s Anglican Church continues to stand as a beacon of hope in the midst of fear, conflict and uncertainty.

As missiles and drones pass overhead, people are still making difficult journeys across the city to reach St George’s - to pray, to worship, to receive care, and to be reminded that they are not alone.

For Christians, Yazidis and others, St George’s is more than a church building. It is a living community of refuge, friendship, practical support and peace.

This is why Mosaic is launching an urgent appeal to help sustain St George’s through food parcels, free medical care and pastoral support for some of the most vulnerable people in Baghdad.

Please pray. Please give. Please stand with St George’s.

At Mosaic, we are proud to support St. George's Anglican Church in Baghdad, Iraq.

St. George's is a beacon of God's love for all in the heart of Baghdad. Situated in the second largest arab city in the world, it offers hope, hope and healing and is open to everyone.

St. George's also includes a kindergarten, school and a medical centre that treats some of the poorest and most vulnerable for free.

In the fall out from the recent war in the Middle East, times are particularly hard for the congregation, so please remember them in your prayers.

If you would like to find out more about St. George's please visit out website, where you may also donate to the work of St. George's: https://mosaicmiddleeast.org/what-we-do/st-georges-baghdad

Today is St. George's day, where we celebrate everything that he stood for as a brave Christian Roman soldier who was martyred for his faith in Jesus. A faith that has continued as a unbroken line throughout history, from St. George's day through to the congregation of St.George's today. We pray this lineage of faith may continue.

The recent photo is from St. George's during Easter week when the feet of the congregation were washed (John 13, v1-17).

Today is Easter Saturday.

The day in between.
The day of waiting.

Between the grief of Good Friday…
and the hope of Easter Sunday.
It is a quiet day in the Easter story, but perhaps one we understand more deeply than we realise.

Because for so many across the Middle East right now, life is lived in that space.
Not in the resolution of Easter Sunday.
But in the uncertainty, the grief, the waiting.

At Mosaic, we often speak of working in the space between the now and the not yet: holding onto a certain hope, while refusing to turn away from present suffering.

Easter Saturday sits right there.

It reminds us that waiting is not empty.
That God is still at work, even when it is unseen.

And that hope does not mean rushing past pain, but holding it with honesty and faith.

This week we recorded an Easter reflection with the Very Revd Canon Richard Sewell, reflecting on what it means not to rush to Sunday, especially in a time like this.

We’d really encourage you to take a few moments to listen.

As we wait today, may we be people who remain:
present to suffering,
rooted in hope,
and called to respond.

'Salt and light'

Will you add your name in solidarity with Christians in the Holy Land today? As their rights to peacefully live, serve and remain in their homeland is under great threat right now.

So much so, our partners in Jerusalem have asked us to urgently petition to get the subject officially raised in the House of Commons. Therefore enabling a formal UK response that may help to prevent Christians from being quietly squeezed out of the Holy Land.

Please add your name by clicking through on the following link: https://mailchi.mp/mosaicmiddleeast.org/advocacy

We will present the names to David Smith MP, who serves as the UK's Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief.

Thank you to everyone who has so far signed-up.

As the war in the Middle East continues to escalate, churches and communities across the region face growing uncertainty and fear.

In this short video message, the Rt Revd Sean Semple, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, reflects on how the conflict is affecting the countries and congregations across his Diocese. In recent days, several of those countries have experienced missile and drone attacks, bringing the reality of war frighteningly close to home for many families.

The churches of the Diocese are seeking to remain places of prayer, compassion, and practical support for their communities during an incredibly difficult time.

Please take a moment to listen, and join us in praying for peace, protection, and wisdom for leaders across the region.

ā€œBlessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Children of God.ā€ Matthew 5:9

We continue to stand alongside our partners across the Middle East in prayer and solidarity.
