We are Durham's official parent carer forum & a group of parent carers who work with professionals to influence & improve services to children and young people (0-25 years) with special educational needs & disabilities in County Durham. “MCT was set up in County Durham as a way for parents and professionals can work together to improve services for children and young people with additional needs.

MCT gathers information from parents at the Forum Conferences, through Focus Groups, emails, telephone calls, via local support groups and more.”

Partnering with Parents training programme with you — a series of workshops designed to bring lived experience and professional practice together to strengthen understanding, empathy, and support for SEND families.

At Choice Wellbeing Service, much of their work comes directly from listening to parent carers and understanding the realities they face when navigating SEND systems, advocacy, burnout, mental health, and everyday life. Through this training, they aim to create safe, reflective, and practical learning spaces for both practitioners and parent carers.

Their practitioner workshops explore topics including:

• Effective communication with SEND families
• Burnout and compassion fatigue in SEND professionals
• Understanding parent carer trauma
• Building stronger, more collaborative relationships with families

They also offer workshops directly for parent carers, focusing on wellbeing, resilience, advocacy, and practical mental health tools.

All sessions are interactive, trauma-informed, and designed to encourage reflection, discussion, and meaningful practice development.

Please find Choice Wellbeing Service CIC training catalogue attached for more information, or head to our website here: https://www.choicewellbeingservice.org/partneringwithparents

They also have sessions running throughout June for both practitioners and parent carers with more information here: https://www.choicewellbeingservice.org/whatson
