Spare 10 for Ben

Join us tomorrow morning (Wednesday 10th June) for our weekly walking group. Meeting at Castle Eden Dene National Nature Reserve, Natural England carpark at 9.45am, ready for a 10am start.
This walking group is suitable for all abilities - we decide the morning of the walk which route we will take depending on who attends. We often have more than one walk leader in attendance so there is the possibility of separating the group to do 2 routes. Please don't be put off from attending if you feel you are less able as we have flat, lower difficulty routes planned too!
Remember to wrap up warm for a fresh walk in the woods!
Enjoy the proven mental health benefits of walking in nature and then please join us afterwards at Seaton Holme for our Midweek Mix & Mingle 12:30 - 14:30 for Chicken Shawarma, games and conversation! All completely free of charge.

This evenings takes place as usual in St Marys Church and Community Hall, 6pm to 8pm.
This week we have Homemade Chicken Curry with Rice courtesy of Claire. As always, there's no charge for food and refreshments which is only made possible thanks to the ongoing generosity of The Steadfast Group and The National Lottery Community Fund 🫶

📢📢 Due to wind conditions Shotton Airfield made the right decision to cancel today's parachute jumps. This means that "Lisa's Leap for Spare 10 for Ben" has been rescheduled to 10am on Sunday 14th June.

So, let's use this as a positive, as this provides her with another week to add to her total! 💰💵💶💴

🚨 TOMORROW IS THE DAY! 🚨

Tomorrow, the amazing Lisa will be taking a huge leap of faith as she completes her VERY FIRST parachute jump to raise much-needed funds for Spare 10 for Ben! 🪂💙

Anyone who knows Lisa will understand just how brave this is. Stepping out of a plane thousands of feet in the air isn't something most of us would ever dream of doing, but she's doing it to help us continue supporting people struggling with their mental health and those affected by su***de.

Every pound raised helps us provide life-saving support, community activities, crisis intervention, and a safe place for people who need someone to talk to.

There's still time to support Lisa before she takes the plunge tomorrow!

Join us tomorrow morning, Saturday 6th June for our weekly at Horden Salvation Army, Dene Street, Horden, SR8 4JY at 09:30 - 12:30. This is made possible by the support of Coalfields Regeneration Trust and The National Lottery Community Fund
We provide a free hot breakfast bun and cuppas galore, free of charge or in return for a small donation if preferred.
We can also provide a listening ear, more details about the services we provide, along with referrals into partner organisations if required. So why not get yourself along, weekends can be tough for many of us, let us help make it that little bit easier!

💙 🌟 Business of the Month – The Miners Lamp 🌟

This month, we are proud to recognise The Miners Lamp and the incredible team behind it – Peter, Lynn, Georgia, and everyone involved.

Since our very first meeting, they have been unwavering supporters of Spare 10 for Ben. Their generosity has consistently helped us make a difference, often without any fanfare or recognition.

Through their regular donations of food, they help us provide our weekly , ensuring that those who attend can enjoy a warm, welcoming start to their Saturday mornings.

At Christmas, their kindness went even further. Over the course of two weeks, they bought, prepared, cooked and served beautiful three-course Christmas lunches for our service users and families. They also purchased Christmas Eve boxes for every child and arranged for Santa to personally hand them out, alongside gifts for every adult.

For many of the people we support, this was their only opportunity to enjoy a meal out in such a wonderful setting. The joy, dignity and sense of belonging this created cannot be measured.

What makes their support even more special is that they never seek recognition for it. They simply care about their community and quietly go above and beyond to help others.

Peter, Lynn Charlton , Georgia Charlton and the entire team at The Miners Lamp – thank you. Your compassion, generosity and community spirit make a real and lasting difference to the lives of so many people.
