Oundle Repair Cafe

Oundle Repair Cafe Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). Visitors bring their broken items from home. We learn and fix together.

Part of a worldwide group, our group of gifted volunteers help owners repair and mend items which might otherwise get thrown away - thereby saving loved and valued items, and the environment, too. At a Repair Cafe, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make the repairs you need - on clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, toys, jewelry, etc. You will also find repair specialists such as e

lectricians, seamstresses, carpenters and mechanics. Together with the specialists they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Or you can lend a hand with another repair job. You can also get inspired at the reading table – by leafing through books on repairs and DIY.

Repairing damaged clothes can seem a bit daunting, but our volunteer repairers will do their best to help you on 25th April, at Fletton House. We have a range of sewing threads, shirt buttons, fasteners and darning wools, though we don’t stock spare zips – too many different colours, sizes and weights.
Send details of what you would like mended to [email protected] and we will get back to you with an approximate time to bring them along. If case you have to wait for a while, we also have a great selection of cakes and hot drinks, to help you pass the time.
Go to www.transitionoundle.org.uk to find out more about the Oundle Repair Café, and the IT Amnesty that we are running alongside this meeting, or to www.repaircafe.org/en for information on the international movement.
