September was another busy month of activities, talks and creativity at Volunteer Action!

A huge thank you to our wonderful speakers – Margaret from Oundle Community First Responders who talked about the invaluable work they do, and Sharn Matthews, who gave us a fascinating insight into how cooking and eating habits changed throughout the 20th century.

Our crafter group also got creative, producing some gorgeous artwork using printing and shading techniques.

And, as always, a heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers, who give their time and support in so many different ways to help make these social groups possible. We couldn’t do it without you! ,

🚗 VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED – WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS 🚗

Could you spare a few hours on a Wednesday afternoon to help local young people get involved in volunteering in our community?

Action is looking for volunteer drivers to transport pupils to and from their regular volunteering placements in nearby villages such as Glapthorn, Polebrook and Aldwincle.

The commitment is straightforward:

• Wednesdays, between approximately 1pm and 4pm, during Oundle School term time
• Fewer than 30 Wednesdays across the whole year
• You'll usually do the same short journey each week, so you'll know your route and timings in advance
• All journeys are local and relatively short
• Can't make a particular Wednesday? No problem at all – the School will arrange a taxi instead
• All mileage is reimbursed at the full HMRC rate of 55p per mile
• An Enhanced DBS check is required as passengers are school age, but Volunteer Action will arrange this for you

💚 It’s a lovely opportunity to support young people who are giving their own time to volunteer within our local community – and just a few hours of your time each week can make that possible.

Interested or want to find out more? Please get in touch with the Volunteer Action team – we’d love to hear from you.
And please share with anyone you think might be able to help! 🚗💚
