Here are some good ideas from Sustainable-ish about how to in this drought. Read some of the comments to get further inspiration... And if they don't mention something you do, add a comment here.

This page here gives a good idea of how much the average person and household uses every day and shows the big areas of use... shorter, lower flow showers, shallower baths (reusing unsoapy water to give flowers a drink) and only flushing when essential (if it's yellow, let it mellow) will really make a difference.

We've had 19 people register for an outline quote in this Transition Oundle* initiative so far, so there's room for a few more. It's open to those who live within 10km of Oundle. Email [email protected] if you want more info or to have a quick chat about the group renewables purchase, or complete the expression of interest form by 12th July. Final decisions are taken mid August so there's plenty of time...

*Transition Oundle is a voluntary environmental organisation which runs local events and projects to encourage 'greener' living...we run the Oundle Repair Cafe which started out as part of the Oundle Waste Less project, for example. We won't benefit financially from this project and we recommend anyone interested gets two other quotes for comparison...

If all this sun makes you think about solar PV, why not consider this?

We are inviting local residents who are looking to install solar PV, energy storage batteries, EV chargers or solar-to-water energy switches to join a group purchase discount scheme. The more people who sign up to the scheme, the greater the discount on the price of their installation.

Transition Oundle will coordinate interest and quotations and installation will be undertaken by local trusted installer, GENR8 Energy LTD.

If 7-9 households sign up, the discount offered will be 9%, which increases to 11% for 10-13 participants and a 15% if 14 -20 sign up.

The offer is open to those who live within 10km of ; being the area from to and from to .

The initial expressions of interest form, which should be linked here and contains more information about time lines etc: https://bit.ly/group-solar-oundle must be submitted by 12th July, which kicks off the quote process. The deadline for making final decisions is 17th August. Installation will be undertaken shortly afterwards.

We've lined up a panel of local residents and professionals who are going to speaking from experience about how they have saved energy, saved money and reduced their reliance on fossil fuels. Wow! The 2026 IT Amnesty collected another tonne of unused tech and helped a dozen get files and photos they never thought they'd see again from 'dead' tech.
