💙 FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT FOR 13–18 YEAR OLDS IN HONITON 💙

Headlight Honiton is launching this September!

Our free service offers a safe, welcoming space for young people aged 13–18 who may be struggling with their mental health or simply need someone to talk to.

🌟 Peer Support Groups – build resilience, confidence and skills to manage mental health symptoms
🌟 1-2-1 Mentoring – personalised support tailored to the young person

We’re looking for someone to support pupils across East Devon through our 8-week Thriving programme, delivering 1.5-hour workshops focused on mental health, wellbeing and helping young people who may be struggling in school.

📅 This is a temporary role of 8 hours per week, running across Autumn 2026 and Spring 2027 with the potential of future opportunities

We said a heartfelt goodbye to our wonderful volunteer, Lorraine, who has supported Headlight for the past three years.

There were flowers, chocolates, cake, plenty of hugs and, of course, a little tear or two! While endings are never easy, we wanted to focus on celebrating the time we’ve shared together and everything Lorraine has brought to Headlight.

Lorraine has given so much care, fun, warmth and commitment to both our team and our young people. She has been such a valued part of our little Headlight family, and her absence will certainly be felt.

Thank you, Lorraine, for everything you have done over the past three years and for all the wonderful things we know you’ll continue to do. You will be very much missed! ❤️

🌞🌚 Last week our Ottery Seniors Group spent their session outside experiencing the solar eclipse together. Despite the clouds it was a great event and some staff and volunteers used the reflection of the car window to enjoy it safely.

Seaton Headlight spaces currently available

Our Seaton Headlight group currently has plenty of spaces available for young people aged 11–18 who could benefit from a safe, friendly and supportive space to talk, connect with others and build confidence.

🌱 Fortnightly Tuesday evenings
📍 Re:Store Community Café, Seaton
🤝 Free peer and one-to-one support
🧠 No formal diagnosis needed

We’d love to welcome some new young people into the group, so if you know a young person who might benefit from Headlight, please consider making a referral or sharing this post with someone who may need us.

Referrals are welcome from young people themselves, parents/carers, schools, GPs and other professionals.

Last week, the Action East Devon team had a fantastic time at Honiton Show, where we were there with our Headlight service, chatting to local families and young people and spreading the word about our new Honiton service which opens in September. We even saw some current and old Headlight members 💙

Headlight provides support for young people aged 13-18, offering a safe, welcoming space where they can talk, connect with others and access support around their mental health and wellbeing.

We’re taking referrals for our new Honiton service, so if you know a young person who could benefit from Headlight, or you’re a professional supporting a young person, we’d love to hear from you.
