This Wed, Nov 4 7pm - https://mailchi.mp/389236df4b83/clever-thought-provoking-family-drama-on-the-big-screen-this-week Colours of Time is a clever film pursuing two timelines, with four cousins from now, and the 1890s mystery of ancestor Adele that forces them to confront their own 21st century lives. In the old cottage they've unexpectedly inherited, the four discover historical photos, letters - and secrets. Their detective work is interspersed with what Adèle in her own day discovers about how her errant mother accumulated her wealth. Tickets: www.maonacinema.com or on the door.

Top reviews all round for our next film, so don't potentially be put off by the subject matter. FAMILIAR TOUCH sees a free-spirited lady having to adjust to something perhaps many of us fear: short-term memory loss and the effects on her & her family. US stage icon Kathleen Chalfant is magnificient in this intimate & sensual drama. It's won loads of awards, but perhaps the subject is why it's not so widely known. We do recommend it. This Wed 16/9: tickets - www.maonacinema.com or on the door

JANE AUSTEN WRECKED MY LIFE: A quirky, warm rom-com is this week's OFS showing https://mailchi.mp/8a7eb930898e/jane-austen-wrecked-my-life-a-quirky-and-warm-anglo-french-rom-com-is-this-weeks-ofs-showing Will a bookish novelist who wins a place on a Jane Austen writing retreat in the English countryside find true love away from the written page? This good-feel film is "witty, warm, keenly observant, a bit clumsy and Bridget Jones-ish, but never, not even for a moment, cringy" (Guardian). This Wed, Sep 2. Tickets via our hosts www.maonacinema.com or on the door. Always a warm welcome at OFS films, open to all

This Wed (19 Aug): heartwarming comedy THE SPIN. Two oddball friends face eviction from their record shop, so seize on a wild opportunity: rare vintage blues records going cheap in Cork. Off they go across Ireland in a battered old Vauxhall, meeting a series of colourful characters on route. THE SPIN is a gently offbeat charmer, praised for its comedic timing and uplifting tone. More info via our host's website, www.maonacinema.com - OFS scrfeenings as always open to all. https://mailchi.mp/3bd1281dbe0f/the-spin-screening-this-wednesday-a-heartwarming-irish-road-trip-comedy

International comedian-ventriloquist Nina Conti has given her backing to the Oswestry Film Society showing her directorial-debut movie SUNLIGHT, so please come to see it this week to repay her faith in us. It's a dark but uplifting (and well reviewed) comedy that was released to selected cinemas late last year after premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe and then the Cannes Film Festival. SUNLIGHT (15), this Wed, Aug 5, 7.30pm. Tickets via our hosts' website, www.maonacinema.com - or on the door.

https://mailchi.mp/e60feacaacd8/great-news-on-two-fronts Great news: the National Theatre Live programme is back in Oswestry. NTL streams the best of British theatre to cinemas across the world. We can see, close up on a big screen, the very best of British theatre on our own doorstep, and all at a fraction of the cost of a London ticket. More to come, so keep an eye on www.maonacinema.com for NTL nights, as well as all its regular screenings - INCLUDING the OFS: our next film is the lovely feel-good drama THE KITCHEN BRIGADE on Wed May 6.

The acclaimed I SWEAR is on tonight (7.30). Best book, as it's close to a sell-out. And from now on the OFS will be supplementing the Maona cinema schedules with regular screenings on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. Due next (Apr 15) is the uplifting LIFE OF CHUCK (Tom Hiddleston), and coming up - the stylish BLACK BAG and the comedy-drama KITCHEN BRIGADE. But it's not just Wednesdays. Maona show a varied mix of films Thurs to Sun. Check out www.maonacinema.com
