Action Together is the infrastructure organisation for the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector in Oldham, Rochdale, and Tameside. We connect people with what’s happening in their community, develop community ideas into action, strengthen local organisations, and provide strategic influence for the charity and voluntary sector. Membership of Action Together is free and open to

any voluntary organisation, charity or social enterprise in Oldham, Rochdale, or Tameside. Action Together supports people to volunteer in their area, and assists local organisations in developing volunteer programmes, policies, and roles. We provide support for voluntary, community and charity organisations to establish and develop, including specialist information, advice, and training for staff, volunteers and trustees. Action Together works in partnership with other charities, infrastructure organisations and public bodies and collaborates on key thematic work. We deliver locally-focused projects including social prescribing, Healthwatch Oldham and Healthwatch Tameside, Big Local Oldham, and Miles of Smiles. Action Together invests in the sector, and members can apply for funding from our grants programmes. We also provide support for groups seeking and applying for investment, and direct members to appropriate sources of funding. Action Together is a registered charity (No.1165512).

This is the perfect opportunity to share the story behind the wonderful volunteer-run, community project giving uniforms a second life in Heywood!

The vision for the Hub began in January this year, when Claire Yardley contacted Action Together with her ideas to create a local space where good-quality school uniforms could be donated, reused and redistributed free of charge

After months of hard work, and support from our Community Development Worker, Vicky, the project launched last weekend with resounding success...check out their story on our blog: https://www.actiontogether.org.uk/turning-donated-uniforms-community-support-heywood

πŸ’™ Today I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Asma.

Through Action Together, I’ve had a really positive and supportive experience, but meeting Asma was something special.

Not only does she do incredible work within the community, she is also the Founder and Director of Soul Sisters: Empowering People , supporting and empowering women through some of life’s most difficult challenges.

What a truly inspirational woman she is. Hearing her story, her passion, and her dedication to helping others reminded me that some of the strongest people are those who have turned their own pain into purpose.

Knowing that she believes in what we’re trying to create at She Remains Brave and that she is willing to support our journey means more than I can put into words.

It’s sad that so many of us meet because of trauma, injustice, or difficult circumstances. Yet there’s something incredibly powerful about finding people who understand, who care, and who want to make a difference.

Thank you, Asma, for your time, your kindness, and your encouragement today. I feel honoured to have met you and I’m looking forward to working together in the future. πŸ’™πŸ¦‹
