As warned in our announcement post, today's pick was drizzly.
A very kind gentleman stopped two of our volunteers just before they started on Atlas Street, and donated a bag of refuse sacks 😀

The area from Atlas St to the Hop Pole wasn't particularly messy, so the volunteers were able to spread to nearby streets in the hour set aside for the pick.
The 5 volunteers collected a total of 8 bags of rubbish, which Tameside Council will collect as pre-arranged as usual.
This pushes our yearly total past the 300 mark! This is 70 more than this time last year 😲

It's our 5th birthday this month.
The group has been picking practically every Saturday since 2021.
You may have noticed our tally each week: more than 2 ½ thousand bags of rubbish and litter off of Waterloo's streets!

To celebrate this amazing occasion, we invited past and present members of the group to celebrate with tea and cake in the Waterloo Park Centre.

We thank each and every person who's ever volunteered with us. You have made a difference to the residents of this part of Ashton and you should be very proud of your achievements. Thankyou 💜

Here's to the next 5 years 👍

Today, the 10 volunteers collected 13 bags of rubbish around Waterloo Park and it's surrounding streets.

Our group has been in existence for just over 5 years. We feel this is a significant milestone and would like to invite everyone who's taken part in our litter picks during this time to join us on Saturday June 6th for tea and cake in Waterloo Park Centre.
We intend to meet up after our litter pick at about 11.15, if you wish to join us, please indicate by commenting below so we'll have an idea of numbers. Comment Pick if you wish to join the litter pick, Cake if you wish to join us for tea and cake and Pick Cake if you wish to do both.
It will be great to catch up with everyone.

Another glorious morning for our 6 volunteers today. They met at the scout hut on Cranbourne Road and finished at the car park at the top of Turner Lane. 10 bags of rubbish were collected plus a bag of expanded polystyrene which had been abandoned on Lordsfields Avenue.
It's our 5th birthday celebration next Saturday and we'll be posting more information about that next week.

This week's litter pick will meet at the scout hut on Cranbourne Road near the bridge over the old railway track on Saturday at 10.00. I'm afraid we won't have any spare litter pickers as our organiser who takes care of those is unavailable this week.

Gorgeous weather for today's litter pick! Unfortunately this also means more litter bugs!
There were just 5 volunteers who met on Knowle Avenue, and they made their way to the pickup point near Richmond Street Community Centre RSCC .
8 bags were filled in just an hour, plus 3 NO2 cannisters.

Many of our Duke of Edinburgh volunteers have finished or are finishing with us. We'd like to wish them good luck on their award 🏆
This does mean we'll probably be down on volunteer numbers from now, so would welcome any new volunteers who'd like to help for an hour Saturday mornings 🙏
