Time: 3:37pm
Agencies involved: Humber Coastguard Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

Our crew were tasked this afternoon to provide assistance to a person in difficulty in the water at King Edward’s Bay, Tynemouth.

After a brief search, with support from our Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade colleagues, the casualty was located and brought to Cullercoats lifeboat station, where they were taken into the care of the ambulance service.

Concerns for the persons’s welfare were raised by a member of the public, whose quick action in calling 999 and asking for the coastguard resulted in this positive outcome for the casualty.

If you see anyone in distress in, on or close to the water, don’t hesitate to call and ask for help 📞🛟🌊

If you were enjoying the late summer sunshine at the coast yesterday, you may have spotted Cullercoats RNLI crew taking part in a joint training exercise with Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade.

Our volunteers worked together to understand each other’s skills and equipment, practicing casualty recovery and extraction techniques to ensure we’re well prepared to collaborate in an emergency situation.

Cullercoats RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Kay said, ‘this was a very valuable training exercise. We are two different charities but work closely together to keep the coastline safe.’

🚨 Emergency Services Day 🚨

Today, on Emergency Services Day, we would like to thank all the emergency service and search and rescue organisations we are proud to work alongside. Whether responding to incidents, training together or supporting our community, we are stronger when we work as one team.

📟 We would also like to recognise our volunteer crew members and, just as importantly, the families, friends and supporters whose understanding, patience and encouragement enable our crews to answer the call, day or night. Without their support, there would be no service.

🛟 Finally, thank you to everyone behind the scenes at Cullercoats RNLI, from our fundraising, shop, water safety, station visits and press teams to all those who freely give their time to support our lifesaving work.
