Today we celebrate our fantastic Wing Staff Officers who provide such valuable support to 1407!

While they work across the wider Wing, our Wing Staff Officers are always there for us — generously sharing their time, expertise, and resources to open doors that a single squadron might not manage alone. From organising large-scale camps, competitions, and training courses to facilitating exciting opportunities, and development programmes, they help our cadets access experiences that broaden horizons and build skills.

Your leadership, guidance, and commitment at Wing level make a huge difference to 1407 and every cadet we serve. Thank you for championing us and for everything you do behind the scenes! 💙

Today we proudly celebrate our dedicated Officers at 1407!

Our officers provide outstanding leadership and direction to the entire squadron. They volunteer countless hours to oversee training programmes, plan and deliver high-quality activities, ensure cadet welfare and safety. Their experience, professionalism, and commitment keep 1407 running smoothly and achieving great things.

From mentoring both cadets and staff to making important decisions that shape the future of the unit, our officers are true role models who embody the values of the Air Cadet Organisation.

Thank you to all our Uniformed Officers for your leadership, dedication, and unwavering support. We couldn’t do it without you! 💙

Today we celebrate our outstanding Uniformed Adult NCOs at 1407!

These dedicated volunteers wear the uniform with pride and give their time, energy, and expertise to lead, mentor, and inspire our cadets every week.

From delivering training and organising activities to providing guidance, discipline, and support on parade nights, and extra activities.

Your leadership, and passion help make 1407 the strong unit it is. You set excellent examples and help our cadets develop into responsible, confident young adults.

Volunteer Week continues with a huge thank you to the dedicated civilian instructors who give up their evenings and weekends to support our cadets. Whether teaching aviation knowledge, first aid, or leadership skills, they bring enthusiasm, expertise, and patience that help shape confident, capable young people.

Our cadets benefit enormously from your real-world experience and commitment. You don’t just instruct — you inspire, mentor, and make a lasting impact.

📅 Volunteer Week - Day 1

Today we kick off Volunteer Week by celebrating the incredible Civilian Committee behind 1407!

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and supportive Civ Com. They work tirelessly behind the scenes — applying for grants, securing funding, and creating amazing opportunities for our cadets that wouldn’t be possible without them. From activities and trips to equipment and training, their hard work directly helps our young people grow, learn, and achieve.

Thank you to every member of our Civilian Committee for your commitment, energy, and belief in the next generation. You make a real difference every single day. 💙

Inter-squadron Athletics! 🏃🏻🏃‍♀️🥉

Yesterday, twelve of our cadets attended DNW’s annual inter-squadron athletics competition, and came 3rd overall! 🥉

It was a fantastic day for our cadets, where they took part across several track and field events – some even setting new records! ⭐

A special congratulations to:

🥇 Cdt Beattie – Class B Long Jump – and a new record! ⭐

🥇 Cdt Brischuk – Class D 200m – and a new record! ⭐

Another Bronze Expedition completed!

Last weekend, Cadets Beattie and Mladenova completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition alongside other cadets from Durham Northumberland Wing.

This route took them along High Force and lots more of the countryside- and they smashed it!

Lots of luck to more cadets with any future expeditions!

First flights!

Yesterday, four of our cadets attended AEF at RAF Leeming, where thy each spent around thirty minutes flying! From doing loops to barrel rolls, flying is the epitome of what cadets has to offer!

Well it’s not too late to sign up for our Recruitment Night at 1407 Squadron on 1st June! You and your child will be able to see everything we have to offer, both on squadron and learning about what we do off squadron!
