One of the highlights of Racing Staff Week is the Stable Staff Races which allow stable staff to experience a race day from the perspective of a jockey, by riding in a race.

21 stable staff from across the industry will be coming together during Racing Staff Week to take part in TWO charity races. Sunday 21st June at Pontefract Racecourse and Tuesday 23rd June at Newbury Racecourse.

The dedicated riders will all work hard to raise awareness of Racing Welfare’s services and raise much-needed funds to support the charity’s work for racing’s people.

One of those amazing volunteers is Lynne, who recently joined the Racing Welfare Beneficiaries’ Holiday sponsored by Godolphin. Reflecting on the weekend, Lynne shared:

“The weekend was amazing. So many memories made, and the friendships forged amongst the beneficiaries was a joy to watch. Lots of tears as we said goodbye on Monday morning. It was a privilege to be there and give people the time to talk.”

Our community volunteers play a vital role in supporting Racing Welfare — whether at coffee mornings, trips or events. They provide invaluable support to our Welfare Officers and, most importantly, offer beneficiaries another friendly face to talk to, connect with and feel supported by.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible dedication of our Racing Welfare volunteers.

In 2025, our in-person befrienders carried out 1,460 minutes of home visits, while volunteers also gave more than 27,500 minutes making check-in and chat calls to help prevent loneliness and support wellbeing across the racing community.
