This weekend we are off to Lewes , come along for a wonderful 2 days full of activities, games , beers and cake. Dog show on the Sunday too ! We will be there with a selection of games fundraising for our Bonfire Society.

The end of this year’s bonfire outmeeting calendar has come to a wet and soggy end, but with high spirits we finished the season at Robertsbridge and celebrated a wonderful evening with them. Thank you for the invitation and we loved being there after a few years away.

On Friday night the society travelled a short distance to join Glynde, Beddingham & Firle’s memorial parade, a truly moving evening to remember those who are no longer with us. We dressed for the occasion in land army and military uniforms. Thank you for the warm welcome.
Saturday saw a small group go out to Rye for their bonfire and firework celebrations - the weather was kind and bonfire spirit was high as the end of the 2025 bonfire season is fast approaching, with just one more outmeeting left for us this year.

CASH ONLY ON GATE - WE CANNOT TAKE CARD PAYMENTS AND THERE ARE NO ADVANCE TICKET SALES. Entrance: Adults (18+) £5 – accompanied under 18s free (up to 3 per adult). No unaccompanied under 18s admitted.

Please note that this is a local event with no designated parking and there is no parking available around the village. Road closures will be in place from 5pm. Please do not come to the event if you cannot come on foot or on public transport.

Please be warned: Tomorrow night there may be street traders selling glow lights and wands. We have not invited these traders, we do not endorse the items they sell, and we strongly encourage you not to buy from them. Unlike our invited food vans etc, these street traders contribute nothing to our night and most of what they sell is discarded, meaning more to clear up the next day.

South Heighton Bonfire Society is a family-friendly, village society made up of volunteers, friends and members who meet and raise money for the traditional village bonfire procession and firework night on the second Saturday in November.

Another successful night in Lewes with our fellow bonfire friends supporting the mighty Lewes Borough Bonfire Society.

We arrived to soak up the town’s atmosphere and prepare for the long night. By a very close shave we managed to win the men’s barrel race! Well done to all the bonfire boyes who took part in that - and then the evening rolled along with many processions and a truly impressive bonfire firework display. As usual we ended on a high note with the always magnificent bonfire prayers.
We thank Lewes Borough for their invitation and hospitality.

We also had a small group attend Lindfield for their village bonfire celebrations, and a lovely evening was had by our members and children.

A huge thank you and well done to both bonfire societies we visited this weekend.
We went to Newick, usually a sleepy village, who put on their usual magnificent display which always lights up the sky, and Meeching and District, who pounded the town of Newhaven.
It’s getting very autumnal now as we move ever closer to the end of the bonfire season for this year.

Another Autumn Saturday saw another two outmeetings attended by South Heighton Bonfire Society.
A smallish gaggle attended Hailsham and reported back they had a ‘banging good time’, while a strong large troop of members popped next door to our neighbours in Seaford .
We all had a thoroughly good time at both nights and we look forward to both events again in 2026.

On Saturday we had the huge privilege of attending Heathfield and District Bonfire Society for their bonfire night - which was incredibly long and hilly, giving us lots of exercise in practice for Lewes!
Heathfield created the most awesome set piece and fireworks!
We all had the best time and are grateful for their invitation and hospitality again this year. 💙💛💙💛
