We went to the last day of the fab Community of Kindness project exhibition by Look Again Newhaven at BN9 Gallery today. It's such a powerful - and moving - reminder that we need to listen to the kids. Kindness changes the world. This beautiful project brought so much light and hope to the streets of Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford - seeing those works of art on lampposts and being greeted by a huge 'Everybody is Welcome' banner as you entered Newhaven was really something. Big up to Lewes District Council for commissioning it and Look Again for once again bringing bright colour and words of love and hope to our town.

Kindness in Newhaven. 😎

A COMMUNITY OF KINDNESS

From 1-6 September, the Atrium at Marine Workshops will host an exhibition of posters created by children and young people from across the Lewes district as part of A Community of Kindness.

Created in collaboration with Look Again and Lewes District Council , the project invited young people to explore a simple question: what does kindness mean to you?

Working with artists Dawn East & supermundane , more than 2,500 children and young people created their own messages using a shared collection of shapes, colours, letters and graphic forms.

As part of Artwave Festival , we’re bringing a selection of these brilliant, funny, thoughtful and hopeful artworks together at Marine Workshops.

1-6 September

Join us on *Sunday 30 August 2026* for our traditional walk from Brighton to Lewes as we come together in support of anti-war and anti-racist causes.

In light of the continuing devastation and loss of life caused by war and genocide in the Middle East, alongside the growing movements against racism here in the UK, we have chosen this year to raise funds for a number of vital campaigns and community organisations.

This year's walk will support:

🔸 Medical Aid for Palestinians
🔸 Askar Camp Medical Centre, Nablus
🔸 Lebanese Red Cross
🔸 Peacehaven Mosque Reconstruction Fund
🔸 Care4Calais
🔸 SAMAS, Crowborough

All donations raised will be divided equally between the six organisations and appeals.
