Happy YMCA Founders Day – Creating inclusive communities since 1844.

Founded in London in 1844, the YMCA has grown to reach over 65 million people a year across 120 countries, as the oldest and one of the largest youth organisations in the world.

And we’re still growing... helping young people, their families and communities flourish.

Stronger together: building momentum for voluntary youth work with backing from the NI Children’s Commissioner

This wasn’t just another meeting. Following two years of focused, sector‑led engagement, the Voluntary Sector Co‑ordinating Committee, hosted by NICVA, met with the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People to reflect on key findings and shape what comes next for voluntary youth work.

The message was clear: the sector needs stronger connections, shared infrastructure and a more collective voice.

Importantly, this direction of travel has the support of the NI Commissioner for Children and Young People - reinforcing that this work is grounded in listening to young people and strengthening what supports them.

Now it’s about turning evidence, insight and shared ambition into action.
