A quiet word for the soul

Be at peace.
Lay down the habit of judging, the rush to interpret, the pull of political noise.
Let the mind unclench.
Let the heart breathe.
You don’t have to carry the world.
You don’t have to solve every argument.
You don’t have to hold opinions like armour.
There is a deeper place —
the place where God is simply present,
where the soul is allowed to rest,
where nothing is demanded except openness.

Lord of peace,
quiet my thoughts,
soften my judgments,
loosen my grip on what I cannot control.
Teach me to rest in Your gentleness,
and to see others with Your calm, patient gaze.
Amen.

I'm thinking of making this small spider an honorary churchwarden - no sooner have I removed the webs than he or she spins them again. So, as an Eco-church, I think we have to respect its tenacity!
