What a great fun night at Skippers Tresaith last night. Joining us were some of the Howni Shanty Group for the first time. The Fairytale of New York went down a storm with enthusiastic and tuneful audience participation, it was very liberating!

Here we are singing Sosban Fach, note the tuneful enhancements from the bar area. A great fun night from the venue that keeps on giving, well done Ben, Jim and all the staff.

We have just come down to earth from the Meva Shanty Fest weekend, the crew performed three gigs which were very well received at The Ship, The Wheelhouse and The Cellar.
Amazing atmospheric evenings were spent listening to and joining in with many other great shanty bands, my voice is still hoarse, in The Ship and The Fountain, with some of the great local beer and even a superb curry house.

We hope we are invited back!

See Ryan giving it large on Santiana in Cymraeg and some other photos / videos which can't convey the amazing atmosphere

We are delighted to welcome Saith Shanty Crew

“In the beginning, Saith Shanty Crew grew from a fondness for songs of the sea, struggle and sheds. The Crew members hail from the area around Tresaith in Ceredigion, West Wales, and can often be found singing in The Skippers, their local pub right on the sea. Their song repertoire is many and varied, from rousing shanties to reflective songs of absence and loss. The Crew also sing some Welsh shanties and (whisper it quietly) a few non-shanties thrown in the mix.

Aspiring to include natural harmonies with most choruses and to use to the maximum the great voices at their disposal, most of the crew take a turn at leading a song or verse. The Crew’s mission is to have a lot of fun, with performances noted for their public engagement, humour, occasional loudness and contrasting wistfulness. The crew are continuing their search for a song about sheds!”
