🩵 The Graduated Approach 💙

SEND support should be a process, not a one-off intervention.

The graduated approach means understanding a child's needs, planning appropriate support, putting that support in place and then reviewing whether it is actually making a difference.

And if it isn't working?

Change the approach.

A child shouldn't have to repeatedly fail before adults reconsider whether the support is right for them.

💙 ADHD isn't just about attention 🩵

When people hear ADHD, they often think about being distracted or unable to concentrate.

But ADHD can affect so much more than attention.

It can influence how we experience time, regulate emotions, get motivated, remember things, organise ourselves and control impulses.

And because these difficulties can look very different from person to person, ADHD doesn't have one “look”.

Understanding the whole picture matters.

🩵 SEND support should be needs-led 💚

A diagnosis can help us understand why a child may be struggling, but SEND support should focus on the child’s needs and the barriers they are experiencing.

A child doesn’t need to wait for a diagnosis before adults start asking:

💙 What are they struggling with?
🩵 What is getting in the way?
💚 What support could help?

Good SEND support starts with understanding the individual child - not simply looking for a label.

ADHD and Strengths

Conversations about ADHD often swing between two extremes:

"It's a gift."

"It's a deficit."

The reality is usually more nuanced.

ADHD can create genuine difficulties while also contributing to creativity, curiosity, problem-solving and innovation.

The goal isn't to romanticise ADHD or dismiss it.

The goal is understanding.

🩵 What happens after an EHCP request? 💙

Submitting an EHCP request can feel like a huge step.

For many families, the uncertainty that follows can be one of the most challenging parts of the process.

Understanding the different stages can help you feel more prepared and know what to expect along the way.

In this carousel, we explain what happens after a request is submitted, what decisions need to be made and what options are available if the request is declined.

Knowledge can make a complex process feel a little more manageable.

💙 ADHD and Self-Esteem 💚

ADHD doesn't just affect tasks.

It affects how people see themselves.

Repeated experiences of struggling with things that seem easy for others can gradually shape confidence, identity and self-worth.

Understanding ADHD isn't about making excuses.

It's about making sense of experiences.
