A piece of Yarde Farm

sent in 1961 to Solihull in the West Midlands. The postcard reads "We arrived after long journey, caravan OK, weather could be better, very rough seas and very windy"

One thing I love about postcards is they all mention the weather. I always wanted to write a book about the postcards entitled 'The Weather is..." (watch this space, I may get round to doing it one day!).

Another thing that is lovey about the postcards that have been posted is they develop a picture of how has developed in the area. Each 1900 show that postcards are mainly sent to London, given the transport routes at this time, and finances it would be expected. As tourism and travel improve and change the area opens up to different areas.
